Jerry, Amy, you out there?

Here's one for you guys:

Has anyone ever used INFI to baton INFI through INFI?

I know it's akin to Chuck Norris punching/kicking himself in the face, but there is a freakin' physicist here, so let's figure out what would happen!

I know that if my knife got damaged in use, and I sent it in for warranty work, I would be frustrated at a long wait to get it back. But I would not call Jerry and Amy out in public as a means of getting an answer. That's just bad form.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone with this post.

I wont feel as good about beating on my Busse knives that hard anymore if they are susceptible to bending and then shearing when really letting loose on them. I was hoping my fasteners were a fluke, but since this has happened before with throwing a knife, I guess it isn't. I don't want to have to be careful while using them in order not to loosen up the handles. Just my .02

Replace the fasteners . . . There are some hefty posts that should easily replace/fit in the fasteners.

xanax, do you mind describing what you mean by "really letting loose on them"?

Nothing is indestructible!
The second best thing is an Indestructible warranty:cool:

Yours has just been demonstrated...
A team of knife smiths and a staff at a lab have tested and refurbished your knife....
Jerry himself is giving you the:thumbup:  to chop away....
What more do you want?
Maybe Guyon can get the Elves to drop by with some pointers?

Don't be afraid to beat your Busse blades my friend. . . they like it and you can feel good about it!!!

Less than 25 customers have returned knives for warranty issues since I began making knives full-time in 1982. . . That averages out to about 1 per year since I went full-time at making knives in 1982!!! . . . That number would be even lower if we didn't cover abuse in our warranty . . . .There are hundreds of thousands of Busse Knives out there, being beaten and abused everyday!!!

Knives that are designed for throwing, usually have cord wrapped handles or replaceable handle slabs because impacts of that level will ultimately destroy the handles and the fasteners. Our knives are not designed for throwing. . .

Nuke on!

Jerry :D

ONE knife a year? Those are amazing figures Jerry!

I'll look forward to the day there's a Busse throwing knife.....or better yet: A Busse 'Hawk (traditional style) maybe even with a hammer ;).

I can't throw my knives out of good concience. I'd feel like I was abusing them :p I can't see any reason why I'd ever have a problem with a Busse unless I was TRYING to break it or just not paying attention to what I was doing and torqued the scales off like Xanax. They seem virtually indestructible when used for normal small or big knife things.

I figure if I use my Busse knives like knives I might be passing them all on to my kids someday

WHERE DID THEY ALL GO!?! I WANT, NAY, I NEED A HOGFSH FOR CHEAP :D

Throwing knives are also designed with a much lower Rc than regular knives in order to make them tougher. They may bend but they cannot snap. Most people would never even dream of throwing knives with an Rc of 58-60. Yes, I have been throwing my SHBM for 7-8 years now. Th handle has never come loose and it has the brass tubes. I have batoned it repeatedly into wood with no damage. I have never hit it wth a hammer nor have I used it as a hammer. I did use one as a chisel once or twice, but used a mallet as a hammer.

If someone who wants to throw their knives were to find screws/posts (chicago screws?) that fit snugly inside the fasteners, wouldn't that prevent the damage to the handle (by providing removable/temporary reinforcement to the fasteners and keeping the handles from deforming them)?

That way, you can put the screws in when you are throwing the knife (or using the handle to baton through wood ;) ) and need the extra strength, yet still be able to remove the screws and go back to fasteners only whenever you wish.

Would that work, or do I need to stick with my day job?

That's really more a question for a Mech Eng.

However, I will comment that, should I drop my INFI into someone's particle accelerator (if that were even possible), there would be a great deal of debris. It would not vanish...it would certainly be heated and deformed.

Remember -- mass/energy is conserved!

The dratted hunk of INFI would undoubtedly spoil containment instantly...:D

[You may refer to one of my earlier posts to discover that I am not even allowed a simple neutron howitzer in my basement.]

Oh yeah, I use my FBMLE to baton my BATAC through my GW's all the time:D

I'm just messin with ya:)

Ah, the age old question of 'what happens when an unstoppable force hits an immovable object....'

When someone makes a product idiot proof nature just makes a better idiot. ;)

Probably so, but I was in no way using an idiot proof product. Even my patrol machete has had more handle impacts than the FBM I sent in.
