Jim Merritt

He did up until about '84/85-then he went to work full time in Bobs shop.

I think there are some RWL/Merritt logos out there somewhere........I think!

Here's the scoop guys! Yes and no. Hee! got to love that answer. Yes Jim does still make a few, but very few. For one, Jim was very sick for a while. and orders got backed up in the Loveless Shop. Jim's all Ok, now. and catching up quickly. Living in Kali-wierd, he's been given a lot of grief for having a shop in his garage. too much noise for the local watch dogs. His neighbor got in trouble for using a sewing machine in her garage for Christ sake! Jim makes a lot of knives in the Loveless shop to the point they'er running out of his ears, I'm sure. I have seen one on the classic and guns website posted for 3600. So they bring top dollar. Yes there are Loveless- Merritt's out there. And are still being so marked. Jim doesn't simply work in the Loveless shop, But is Bob's full partner, and has been with Bob for over 25 years. People call him wanting to get a Merritt, thinking they will have a less expencive Loveless. As Jim makes many of the Loveless Knives, they are one and the same. You will not get a cheap knife from Jim, period! That is as it should be. Jim is one hell of a maker. Long Live Jim Merritt, Mike

I'm not looking for a cheap Loveless. I'm thinking I might like a knife with Merrit on the blade and am wondering if he makes them.

Love to see a picture of your Merritt, has to be a fairly rare piece.

There's a stubby little fighter on the world's favorite auction site, for a bit under $4k - seems like it's been for sale forever, though.

I'd like to see it too:D

The resurrection of this thread also brings to mind the absence of Mr. Lovett. Hope he is doing well and back to work making knives.

Peter

Thanks Peter.

I will post an answer as to where and how I've been in jsut a few short days.
Its' been a long road. I just wish my being able to come back wasn't with the Loss of Bob.
A sad time here at the Lovett House.

Seems this forum is becoming quite the marketplace for selling knives.
But then I thought there was a dedicated sub-forum for that.
