User Jimislash Jimislash is being accused of misrepresenting a knife design as his own. The knife in question is a chopper design, allegedly prototyped by long time Cold Steel designer W Wallace Edged Tools and was sold to Cold Steel. Jimislash Jimislash claims Wallace’s design is nothing like his signature Cold Steel chopper, and has since deleted comments on his YouTube video which questioned his involvement in the design.

Just to clarify 100%. This Competition Chopper project was assigned to me by GSM while I was employed by them. I submitted several concept drawings and they chose the one in question. The prototype was completed and turned into GSM in October 2021.
I guess they own your intellectual property since you were on their payroll. So they could do as they wish, and brand it however they wanted. I would have preferred the "Beavis and Butt-Head competition chopper" myself.

The funny thing is jimislash could have said as much, and that would be the end of it. Instead, he doubles down and says he has proof that he designed it. Utter tomfoolery.

It’s not only utter tomfoolery.

Someone claiming to be from GSM responded in the original post in the Cold Steel sub: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...petition-chopper.1900895/page-4#post-21589013
Hello Everyone. I would like to step in here on and set the record straight. I will keep is simple and straightforward

1- Cold Steel decided to support the blade sports community by creating a chopper following the specifications set forth by the Blade Sports organization.

2- At the time Mike was employed by GSM and tasked with creating a design and prototype. Mike and three other GSM designers came up with the first iteration/prototype you see Mike posting.

3- GSM decided to sponsor a Blade Sports competitor who has been a loyal brand ambassador and a true knife loving professional. You all know him as Jimi Slash.

4- We used the original chopper designs (designed by our GSM team) as a starting point for the Jimi Slash chopper. Many iterations, prototypes and design changes were made along the testing process. These design changes and modifications were given to us by Jimi after all the rigorous testing he did . While the two knifes look similar it is important to note, Jimi Slash has been instrumental in the continuous development and design changes over the countless iterations of this chopper. This is a Jimi Slash designed chopper that used some design ques from multiple GSM designers.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion.
