Heres a review of my 3/16 keppy I recieved from stomper. Its a great blade with lots of heft to it. The thickness and blade stylemakes this a great heavy duty knife usuable in most every situation. Johns grinds are great, and with a 2 week turn around, and a 115 dollar price tag, its hard to beat IMO.
I have always loved the kephrt. I love the design, and it seems to be the style I am most drawn to. I wanted a thicker one cause I have seen and used the thinner ones, and I was curious to how the 3/16 blade would perform. I tried to be unbiased in this review, and find any flaws in the knife, but I was unsuccessfull. The only thing I would change would be a wicked convex grind. The knife is shaving sharp, but I can take care of a convex easier, and its easy to take care of in the field.
Overall I can fully reccomend this blade if youre wanting a no frills, heavy duty working tool. John is an outstanding maker that is really developing a loyal following around here. His work speaks for itself, and hes a standup guy, and a great business man to boot. john.
The baldric rig was given to me and made by knifemaker John H, and it is fantastic, and looks great, completing the total package on this knife. I adde the ring to the sheath and the snap links to the baldric to be able to switch from belt to baldric w/o major issues.
John also rehandled my firesteel too, and it matches the knife great.......
Knife is 3/16 O1, black micarta handles with solid 1/4 in pins, and lanyard hole
8.5 overall, with a 4in blade.
