JK FFL 2014 Weeky Wrap-ups

Well the playoffs look pretty much set, with the #1 Jabs and the team formerly knowns as the #2 Dags both getting a rest week in the first week of the playoffs.

As it stands today, the #5 Squad would visit the #4 Brees, and the #6 Badgers would travel to Kentucky to have it out with the other rodents on the schedule, the #3 Rabbit! Nice work, Pete!

The consolation ladder is rounded out with the Beavers coming to the Steelers and the Mathers visiting the Jackhammer.

The Steelers were up to their old tricks, scoring a totally lackluster 52 points and making all the wrong coaching decisions in his role as a spoiler. Didn't work. The Badgers put up 125 points just to make sure of the win, with 31 from Big Ben, 30 from Le'Veon, 24 from Julio and 10 from the Eagles D. Ironically, his 2 Steelers put up enough points for the win over the other Steelers. Pathetic.

The Honey Badgers 125

The Beavers found their stride a week too late, putting up 152 !! points in a decimation of the Jackhammer, who was very "steelers like" in his 64 point performance. With his leading men both having 15 points, and not a whole lot else to be happy about, the Hammers put up 64 points. The Beavers had every reason to be happy, with Luck putting up almost 40 himself, and three other players with 20 or more, and 100 from the flex position there was much happy on the sidelines for the Beavers.

Bucky Beavers 152

In the "Go-Figure" category, the Mathers put a DRUBBING on the Jabs, who had a very un-Stoney like bad day . As Manning goes, so goes the Jabs, and Manning only had 15 points on the day, but CJ had 23, so there was some consolation. Maclin ony had 10, and Demary-oooos only had 12. The Mathers, on the other hand, was killing it with 25 from Flacco (who looked pretty good in that game), 26 from Megatron, 18 from Torrey and 22!! points from the Rams D! Good job keeping in the fight, Mathers!

In a game that is a precursor to the likely first round playoff matchup between the Squad and the Brees, it was the Squad who flexed the muscle! With Eli behind center, the Brees gave up something to Ryan, who outscored the position by 11 points. Sproles was a veritable no show but otherwise, not terrible production from the receivers, Gates was not bad, flex was decent - just not enough. The Squad got his from Ryan, who seemed on, Jamaal caught one for a TD, Jennings was great, Alshon got a couple, DeSean was good. Graham laid an egg however. It will be interesting to see how the matchup changes in the playoffs.

In the battle of the two teams vying for the first round bye, it was the Beagle-Dags that pulled it out! On the back of DeAndre Hopkins and Joique Bell, with Demarco, Brown, Brady and the Bills D all added up to a very nice 155 points for the Beagle-Dags. The Rabbit had a nice day, with Brees having one of his best weeks of the season and good solid points with no zeds added up to 104 points. Oh to dream says the coach of the Steelers.

Good luck gentlemen and lady!

John has requested that I send him the trophy money in January, so I will do so and keep you folks updated as to where your teams funds are.

best regards

thanks again, Andy!

I didn't even know I was vying for a bye, thought there was only one for each division leader, and that was always going to be the jabs for me, ho hum, there's comfort int he thought I couldn't have one with any one i kept on the bench either :)

I think the little pups earned their bye :)

No - you are correct - since you are in the same division as the Jabs there was no bye on the table - my mistake.

Nice job anyway! Not bad for a soccer man.

Yup, The Beagle pack loves Rabbit Hunting!
They earned a high score Trophy!
Good puppies!
What was with that Jabronis/Mather match? On any Sunday I guess.
Thanks for your League work Andy!
What kind of knife will Bob Stone win with our recent pay to play upcharge this year? Is it going to be stainless?

The first week of playoffs is in the books, and for the two matchups that mattered, we had a nail biter and a blowout.

Le'Von had one of the best days for any RB all season, with 41 points and at an opportune time for the Badgers. With 30 from the cheesey slinger and 31 from Julio Jones, the Badgers put up a stellar 142 points to take out the Squad, who put up a very nice 102 points on 35 from Matt Ryan and 23 from Jamaal.

Nice Job Todd - you did well this season and made the right moves.

The Badgers move to the second round of the playoffs.

In the other matchup, the Rabbit pulled out no ordinary win with 22 points from Eddie Lacey to eak out a win over the very stout 103 point performance from the Brees. The Rabbits scored 107 points to move on to the second round and a chance at the coveted JK FFL Trophy Knife.

The Brees had a great season, the only husband/wife team in the league and they did an awesome job.

Congratulations to the Rabbit, who has been on his game this year and certainly is understanding the American "oblong ball".

The rest week for the Jabs and the Beagles was needed, as both have a worthy foe coming to town for week two of the playoffs!

I will be in Chicago this coming Monday night to watch the Bears try to get a better draft pick in 2015, so the wrap up might come late, but be assured I will be checking the scores on my phone.

Good luck to all for week two of the playoffs!

In the Toilet Bowl, the Mathers stomped the Hammer, coming on late in the season and providing hope for next year, and the Beavers put the Steelers to rest, mercifully. At least I don't have to set this lineup for next week. The Mathers head to the Beavers for a chance to get some more momentum for next year.

thanks , Andy, enjoy that trip (and if you wouldn't mind hanging a word with Mr. Brees and reminding him he's a top 5, elite quarterback, I'd appreciate it)

Saintly: back at you, I honestly thought I was done for Sunday night, probably should have been, thanks for the good game.

I'll go to that game in your place Andy, but it will cost you $50 for me to take those tickets! Plus Parking!
GO ILLINI!

I noticed that both winners bracket matchups this week are on a 4 point line!

Should be an exciting weekend for those still in the hunt!

Good luck to the winners bracket participants!

Well I missed the hunt but will have the distinction of being the first one here to start "Johnny Football".

You are a 32 point favorite over my sad-sack array of ne're do wells.

:) good luck Jonny

I posted about it on the message board but I've offered to give out a consolation prize, dependent on what you all think it should be for (most points for teams that didn't win, 3rd team, winner of consolation bracket etc)

Guess I'll be kicking myself till next year for subbing out Jeremy Hill at the last minute. Oh well, win some lose some.

That's why this game is so frustrating!!

You had a great run at it, the Jabs were strong all season.

Congrats to the Badgers - moving on to the Super Bowl!

We still have a nail biter for tonight's game, which will decide the second team.

The Rabbits and the Beagle-Dags (who cleverly changed their logo to a beagle chasing a wabbit...) are locked in a tight one, with the Beagle-dags counting on big nights from two bears, and the Rabbits with Brees and Ingram. Should be a close one!

The Squad looks to be a winner in the winner's consolation bracket with two players left to play (Graham and Jeffrey) going against the Brees, who is tied at the moment with 60 points.

Looks like I actually won a game, beating the Hammers by two points even though I did not pull marshall from the lineup. Goes to show you can't put any faith in the projections, as I was a 32 point underdog going in. Who knew.

Finally - the Beaves lose to the Mathers, who won two of their three games this season in the finals losers bracket! He'll be going into the 2015 season with some momentum. ;^)

I'll enjoy the victory while it lasts. I don't hold out much hope to beat either of those 2, though.

Of course, I didn't think I stood a chance against Stoney either. Good matchup, right down to the wire...

Situation forces me to watch the Bears tonight since I need Forte and The Black Unicorn to do a bunch, or maybe Bress will catch some of that Manning Flu from yesturday. It might rain which could make for a great FUMBLE FEST! Sorry you had to go to the game tonight Andy.
It's rabbit season!

Only Forte and Bennte to go...*gulp*...no problem

Glennbad, don't get humble on us, you have the best QB, the best RB and the BEST TE in the game right now, methinks you'll give "whoever" it is a run for their money :)
