JK Knives 3000th Post Giveaway Contest

Here's one not alot of people do. This is me in about 110' of water in the Gulf. I do alot of spearfishing. Hope this one qualifies.

NO EFFING WAY! THAT DOES NOT QUALIFY!!! This is how real men do it! Holding their breath and diving into the darkness. Well, not really into the abbys, I don't usually look for fish deeper than 22m... like 66 feet, but you know what I mean. :D:D Thumbnails for ya'll...

All the spearfishing i have done and seen done was always without compressed air bottles. It is forbidden in Spain (actually in the whole Europe IIRC) and most of the places I have heard off.
Mikel

PD: Thanks for the giveaway man!

This was the Twins first fishing trip (age 3) -TurkeyGeorge & Me took them :D

The boys were using their SpiderMan fishing rods & live minnows for bait, the BASS & BlueGill were caught at FishTrap Lake @ the boat dock.

There will always be that debate as far as SCUBA vs. freediving. I respect you for it but it's not for me.

Awesome pics.

True. I thought about trying SCUBA diving (withouth a speargun) for a while but then I realised it was not going to be good for my health to have such big fish in front of me and nothing to shot them with. :D :D The few times I went freediving withot a speargun (think reserves in pseudo-exotic places) I ended up imaginarily shooting everything that moved with my index finger...

We can get a pretty good fine if we are caught, not even fishing with a SCUBA gear, but just for having SCUBA gear and spearguns in the same boat at the same time.

Your pictures are awesome as well, keep them comming. No risk of sharks there? Kind of dangerous to carry bleeding prey with you...

Keeping it mellow with yellow...a vintage KaBar with a few lures I have had luck catching Sauger with right in my back yard...

There are sharks around. I've had a few run-ins. Diving at certain times of the year you can avoid them. When the water warms up and the bait schools start migrating through that's when they are more prevalent. I'm sure the bleeding fish thing doesn't help but if we don't backdive a spot we usually don't see them.

A poke in the nose with my speargun usually does the trick and if they get too curious we carry powerheads to take care of the aggresive ones.

Plus if the vis is bad you usually don't see em!!

not sure if i qualify, for the contest, but these are each of my childrens first fish

This is a pink salmon I caught on the River Temperance, which empties into Lake Superior in Minnesota. Beautiful little guy, we had him fried up and eaten with eggs for breakfast within minutes of catching it.

Here's my favorite picture of my Grandpa. One of the reasons I love this picture is the memories of him taking us fishing as kids. Plus, I love that you can totally tell it's him, just by his profile.

Alright, great contest, thanks Stomper! Fishing is my absolute most favorite thing in the world!

I don't think I can compete with some of these, but here is my contribution anyways.

Awesome fishing pictures. It's really cool seeing some fishing from different parts of the country. I'm so used to saltwater fishing it's nice to see some of the other lake and river fish around the country.

Great pics everyone!

This is the calm before the storm. 40MPH winds, hail, thunder, and lightning all before we got back to the dock from fishing.
