JK Knives...Hiker vs. Kephart

mcw8qp.jpg

Just sent an email order for the exact same knife as pictured above. Also getting a ferro rod loop added to the sheath.

Thinking about making a real low profile sheath for my Hikers Backup and really using it as a backup knife. Maybe some thin leather or kydex. No belt loops or anything, it would be just stuffed in a pack somewhere. It's nice and thin with the cord wrap handle.

JeffH will hook ya up with some kydex that is the bomb!

Nice score. You will love it. His blades are addicting huh?

I stopped visiting blade forums about a year ago because of my wallet.

I was good for a while. Been usin' and abusin' my Spyderco's in the EDC world.

Came back here to poke around, bought the most expensive Leatherman they make, a couple custom knives, $50 in knives and sheaths from AG Russell on a neck knife that only cost $10 (Woodsman), some more bushcraft gear, etc.

As much as I'd love to support John with a couple order a month, the Hiker is designed to be a hard use knife that can do pretty much anything. We'll see if I have the discipline to use it that way (I don't).

:D

I think tools need some use marks to give them character. I have been spending every available moment outside recently. Hopefully I will continue that trend and have a scratched up sheath and a scratched up 4" Hiker to show for it. Come November, I hope to get a little deer blood on it as well.

Maybe I'll put a real wicked thin edge on my HB and use that as my skinning knife. Ah, the way we (I) rationalize things...

It always makes me sleep better dude;)

I very briefly toyed with the idea of passing along my awesome HB to somebody else who wanted a cord wrap version, but I just like it too damn much to get rid of it. I'll put it to use somewhere.

You can send it my way......

no, seriously I have waaaay too many knives. hang on to it man. Everyone needs asmall fxed blade. It will probably see more use then your Hiker!

Oh Crap. Yeah, versitale, better suted, uh... tells time, glows in the dark, and all that jazz:D:thumbup:

Don't forget to order the keychain knife with those cool new handles to go with the hiker.:) Your wallet will be lighter and that is good. You don't want to haul around a heavy wallet when hiking. Do you?
