Otay then. I doubt Joe would ever pass off an alloy-banded knife as some new form of wootz, but was trying to help him come up with a damascus and as I finished typing, I remembered that guy with that stuff. At least he's no longer selling previously frozen kit folders anymore (that guy, that is. Joe never did).

I did make one W2 bowie that had alloy banding, but it was definately not intentional and another esteemed maker told me that I needed to soak the steel longer to get rid of that phenomenon.
