I'm opening this thread for folks to post their own traditional custom knives by Joel Chamblin.

The idea for this thread was inspired by Roland Procter and my forum partner Gus as well as by my own appreciation for Joel's excellent work and legendary modesty as a maker.

I'll start off with some images of the knives I own and invite you all to add your Chamblin traditionals here as well.

His work and contributions to the art certainly merit his finally having a "catch-all" thread here.

I was fortunate to have met Joel briefly at this years Blade show and anxiously await additions to this thread.

I didn't want to tell you, Ken, but I had to drag him kicking and screaming to your table to meet you. :p

I had a feeling that was the case but enjoyed the experience nonetheless! :D;)

Joel was the first traditional maker I met in the early 90's and is still one of my favorites as a person and a maker.

Here are a few examples that I own or have owned.

Gus, have you got any images of that "Eureka" with blades open?

I think we can dig a couple up. ;)

Now you're talkin'...thanks, brother.

Here are a couple of Joel Chamblin knives I used to own - a 3 1/2" saddlehorn, and a 4" barlow.

Joel's a great person and a hell of a maker.

Nice knives everyone! I especially like Elliott's lockback trapper and Gus' dogleg. The ivory scales are beautiful, but I admit to having a soft spot for the blue-green pieces.

Beautiful knives, and some great photos.

You guys who know Joel's slip joint work... where do you put his fit/finish/action relative to the top tier guys... Tony & Reese Bose, Shadley, Davis... ?? Lock tension, the walk, the talk... how does Joel's compare?

Rob, Joel is one of those top tier guys of whom you speak. He is firmly and properly seated at the same table with the gentlemen you mention. (Along with Richard Rogers (for sure) and a very small and select group of others imho. Some of whom I won't embarrass by calling out their names due to their modesty and lack of presumption.)

As my buddy Gus put it so well one time, (paraphrasing here)..."once you get to this level the differences are on a knife to knife basis". He's absolutely right in my experience.

Only have 1 now. This Winchester pattern. Used to have a peanut a couple years ago, but sold it (which I had it back sometimes)

Here are two that I have. I really like Joel's work. As good as it gets in my opinion.
