Joel Chamblin: Custom Knives

Beautiful knife by Joel Chris and Simon's engraving is just right on that knife. (Guessing that Simon did the work). Thanks for posting it.

Speaking of Mr. Litton, I sure missed him at Blade and hope he is recovering well.

I want to thank you all again for all the great comments and photos, although I may have to buy a bigger hat after this. I've been a full time maker for 20 years now and I owe it to all you great collectors, and fortunately many of you have become friends. I thank you.
Joel

I feel sorry for my friends. :D

Thanks for all the compliments on my knife, and thanks to both Joel and Simon for making it. It is a spectacular knife in so many ways, and it is one that I will hand down to one of my children someday. I just wish my pics could do it justice.

Beautiful! The handles are on fire!

Here is the one of Joel's that I have, and am very fortunate to have at that!

Here are some photos of the sowbelly that I just recently received from Joel. It was a real pleasure "working" with him. He is a true gentleman.

Highly polished inside and out.

All the joints are sunk. The spine of the sheepfoot is parallel and even with the spine of the clip blade.

Congrats, Jake. Joel is an excellent maker and as you say, a gentleman of the first order. I happen to love the little stag sowbelly that I have. I hope you enjoy yours just as much.

Congrats! That's a beauty Jake! Mr. Chamblin sure makes a fine knife.

Thank you, guys. Elliot, I spent a lot of time looking at photos of your Chamblin Sowbelly. :)

It's a beautiful knife and exactly what I wanted. I didn't have to say much to Joel since I already new that I liked his sowbelly pattern. But every step of the way it was like talking to an old friend that knew me well. I bought the knife to use and I have no doubt that it will excel but I'm not completely comfortable with the idea of putting it in my pocket yet. I'm just going to admire it for a little while at first. :)

Jake, congrats to you and Joel on a fine knife! Now get that thing in your pocket and use it!:D

That's a really great knife! Nice work, Joel, and great score, Jake!
Tell me about the bone, please - it is very interesting!

Nice knife Charles. Mr. Chamblin checks in here every now and then. Perhaps he'll put a date to it for you.
I'll be watching for this one to add to my big pile of ex-chuko knives.

Thank you, guys. Charlie, hopefully Joel will stop by and add some info about the jigged bone. I sent him a photo of one of his knives as an example of what I wanted. I just got home and took the knife out to CE & CF it again. :) With those sunk joints and sowbelly curves, it has a great feel in the hand with any one of the three blades open. It will certainly make an excellent daily companion. Charles, that's gold lip pearl muskrat is a beauty!

I am really glad to see this tribute to a fantastic maker of classic slipjoint knives. He is truly one of the giants of our industry.
