Let me preface this post by saying I read through the entire thread mentioned by thecount (
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/516037-John-Leblanc )
Let's see if I understand that last comment by sdemars. He contacted Tom Krein and Tom is "in fact still in the process of producing both the vertical & the horizontal versions of the John LeBlanc grinders." But "He said he is still a ways out though . . ."
Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy then the ruckus in the other thread started in March of 2010. 4 years ago...............
It's March 2014 now. Tom has had a lot of time to assert his "purchased" rights to the John LeBlanc designs which, while interesting, are not, in any way shape or form, "State of the Art" at this point in time. People like Travis Wuertz, owner of Wuertz Machine Works, and producer of the TW90 have moved beyond Mr. LeBlanc's designs. Implementing a way to tilt a grinder (any brand) 90° (or any other angle for that matter) precludes the need for a vertical AND a horizontal machine in one's shop. Let's not ignore the surface grinder option that the TW90 has, which might ( I'm not sure since I haven't used it) eliminate the need for another husky shop machine.
Then there are a host of other perfectly fine grinders at a variety of price points that our own Salem Straub has reviewed here:

My point here is pretty simple. Once upon a time, in another time and place, Id've bought a JL horizontal grinder if it was available somewhere. It hasn't been for a long time and somehow I survived without it. Now that I've learned to weld I plan on retrofitting my Bader with a tiltable table and then accessorize it as needed.
Mr. Krein raised a stink 4 years ago about "owning" the JL grinder designs. He got his way, at that point in time, with Enrique who has subsequently "actually" produced and sold some dandy grinders. I'm not sure if he still makes those but he did make some that were praised. What did Tom Krein the "owner" of the JL grinder designs do with those designs he bought and "owned" in the past 4 years? Maybe he'll fire off on my analysis with an answer showing how ignorant I am.
If my analysis of this seems a bit harsh, understand where I'm coming from. I might have bought one of those JL design horizontal grinders if Mr. Krein had followed through on his "investment" but it didn't happen and he denied all of his potential customers that opportunity to add a well designed tool to their shops.
