got back from fort dix a few hours ago after takin the asvat test my recruiter called me up and I got an 84, who'da thunk an ex junkie highschool dropout like me could score like that on his first try. thinkin of treatin myself to a nice new blade to celebrate(heh not to long ago I'da treated myself to a blunt and a bag of dope) :)

Wow... 84 eh? Congrats on kicking dope... the Army will do you good. Good luck.

84 is a fine score. Make sure they give you a big bonus, and think through which MOS you pick, it will make or break your perception of the Army. Best job you can have, stay off the ****! Seriously, its not worth messing up a good job...im not here to preach. Good luck, and yeah do keep your head down :) Get a busse, not the biggest one you can find, one you can take to the field -- great knives!

First off- congrats. Second- Eyes/ears open, mouth shut. Absorb all you can because chances are, you will be putting those skills (whatever they may be) to use in a RWE in the not too distant future. Good luck and keep us posted.

Fatman420--Thank you for your service. If you ever get that little feeling that you want to use again, please feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to talk about it. Frankly, I'm a little concerned that the alternating stages of extreme stress and deadly boredom found in Army service, along with the inevitable peer pressure, may challenge you to indulge. In my experience, sobriety is precious beyond words.

God bless you and good luck.

Good luck in your career... Once they've got their mitts on you, do what you're told to the best of your abilities, and think carefully before volunteering for anything.

If you MUST volunteer for anything, volunteer first...they save the truly crap details for those who are hesitant. Good luck and stay safe! -Matt-

Congratulations. And thank you for your service. Keep your head down and your eyes open.

LOL, my experience was always that when you volunteered to be the first to do a $#!* job, you ended up owning it for the duration.

HA! You are right about that Torz! I didn't have to volunteer for a ton of stuff, but when I did, the HMFIC's usually had a laundry list of odd stuff to work on. They broke it up so that only two or three people worked on a specific task. The list was stacked from not too bad crap job to very bad crap job. The longer a person waited, the worse the job. Looking back, I'd rather have run the weed wacker or clean out storage rooms, than paint a 300 foot long rope! Ahhh the good ol' days! :D -Matt-

Just so you know, blinker fluid is stored in the doc's office (beside the prop wash). Something about you can use them to make meth and it has to be locked down

;)

Seriously though - you might be able to re-take the test and pick up a few points because you've gone through it once before, looks good for the recruiter and looks good for you. The recruiter offered that option to me (he had the test set up in a back office of a recruting center in a big city) - I'm pretty sure re-taking isn't "by the book", but if it works out as an extra few grand on the signup bonus... There are also some test trainers out there - not sure if they are worth anything, but you might want to see if there is a book on getting a better score at the library or something.
PT reqs are online, make sure you score well (shouldn't be that hard)
84 isn't bad by any means though.
Good luck!

with a score like that go into special forces (green berets)

and its the ASVAB test

goin up for my physical monday, had I taken the physical when I took the ASVAB I'd of had two high test scores lol. whos drinkin tonight.

don't thank me, I'm doing this for me not for this country not for a wr I don't believe in, but to better my pathetic life, I will fight for me and for the men and women who fight beside me. So please don't thank me for the ability to toss my ideals aside for my own personal gain unless of course you're thankin me in advance for lower gas prices, cause thats what this war is all about. It ain't about al quaeda in Iraq as alquaeda is shiate and iraq is for the most part sunni and well Sunni and Shiate have been warring for hundreds of years over minor discrepinceis in the koran.

(forgive the typos as I am 3/4 of the through a bottle of jack)

regardless of your reasoning, ultimately you will be fighting to protect the freedoms we take for granted. whether or not you make the connection is irrelevant in my opinion.

Well, if it comes down to it, I will fight for the people of this country, but after BT and AIT when I get shipped off I consider myself a simple mercenary, but f**k ot thats probably the jack daniels talkin. I'll shut up go to bed and probably forget everythingb I posterd in the mornig gnight all
