joinin the army

Wow, the Army must be desperate for folks*. Usually you have to have served at least a few months before becoming disillusioned with the whole shebang.

* If what you're saying about joining is true in the first place.

after BT and AIT when I get shipped off I consider myself a simple mercenary

Pretty good chance that you'll never reach the "after BT and AIT" days. If you even start. Please don't put anymore stress on what is still a pretty good Army, we don't need problems like you.

It was man, I drank wway to much last night, but yeah, Im joining for me I don't exactly believe in this war, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do and if theres one thing Im good at its fighting, ya I'm a screw up, but I'm a screw up with combat experience(not quite legal though) but I know how to cover my boys and I figure the more people like me that join the less likely that the draft will have to be reenstated and people that have a chance to live to the vision of their dreams don't have to fight cause god knows this country needs a future. My acestors came here on the mayflower fought in the revolution and in the war between the states if they knew what was going on know they'd be turning in their graves.

If you can't tell I've been hittin the jack again.

What makes me a problem I know how to shoot, fight, follow orders and lead men politics are irrelevant to a soldier.

In light of what forum this happens to be in........I'll leave you with this- good luck.

i think the merc reference was a bit offsetting.

you join for yourself, but you end up fighting because of the soldier next to you, and ultimately may find you have accepted a larger responsibility.

I know all to well what it means to fight for the man standing next to me, evn though right now I'm still just a civilian I was born a soldier and I am wilingl die for whomever is willing to die for me.

Lets drink.

I know Jack too, quite well in fact. However, I have also been shot at in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I can say for sure, that I would not have wanted someone with your attitude anywhere near me in those situations. I wish you the best in whatever you choose to do, but I would re-assess what you're good at.

A rare day indeed that I agree with NV. After your posts about being a mercenary and just being out for you I have to say I am going to see if I can forward all this to the recruiters in FT Dix. My only regret is that I don’t have unlimited time to spend on this right now.

For one thing fatboy why don’t you look up the definition of mercenary? Once you do that you might not toss the term around so casually. Second there are always tough guys that claim they know everything before they go in, once there they get put in their place very quickly.

With your attitude I hope you fall flat on your face.

Best of luck fatman, but LAY OFF THE JACK, that stuff won't help you in the army. And besides, if you're gonna drink... drink something better!;)

don't thank me, I'm doing this for me not for this country not for a wr I don't believe in, but to better my pathetic life, I will fight for me and for the men and women who fight beside me. So please don't thank me for the ability to toss my ideals aside for my own personal gain unless of course you're thankin me in advance for lower gas prices, cause thats what this war is all about. It ain't about al quaeda in Iraq as alquaeda is shiate and iraq is for the most part sunni and well Sunni and Shiate have been warring for hundreds of years over minor discrepinceis in the koran.

(forgive the typos as I am 3/4 of the through a bottle of jack)

First off, Fatman... let me introduce myself. I am currently stationed with the US Army, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regment. I am a combat wounded veteran, with 3 tours in support of the Global War on Terror. Now that that has been said, time to address you.

Your attitude sucks, and you do not belong in the Army, or any other branch of military service. It sounds like you need to pay more attention in your high school history (and english) classes, since none of what you said about the Sunnis OR Shiites make any sense. It's funny how someone sitting their ass on the sidelines can think he has so much insight on the war, and what its all about.

Anyways, thats all I wanted to say. Do everyone in the Armed Forces a favor and keep your butt on the sidelines with the specators, let us do our job, and stay out of our way.

Have a good day.

I would bet gangbanger way before merc or PMC

i have no doubt he is a gangster. he mentioned he will think of himself as a merc rather than a soldier in an earlier post.

in his other posts he talks about dealing dope, bribing cops, and various other indescretions.

even if it is made up, i wouldnt want someone with so little honor and an askew moral compass defending my country.

i tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but i am in agreement with the rest of you.

this knucklehead belongs in prison, not the military.

You guys are being too hard on Fatman.
Just remember, the military needs folks to dig the latrines, clean the toilets, and pick up the trash too...maybe Fatman can become the platoon's COMBAT TURD CHASER.
That way Fatman can free up a good Soldier who would otherwise be doing those crap details.

Fatman, I don't think you should change your attitude one bit.

In fact, you really shouldn't hold back your true feelings once you get to Basic.
Let everyone, especially your Drill Sgt., know exactly what you think.
Tell him right up front, from day one, that you're not there to serve this nation, you're just there to serve yourself!

Tell him you're just a mercenary and nothing more.

And be sure to come back to the forums and let us know how things went.;)
