Anyone heard from Adam?

I heard from Adam around Blade Show time '07. He said Jimmy Chin was going to use his table then. He hoped to be back into knives by Blade '08, but I haven't heard anything new since then. Adam is a talented maker and a great person.

Very cool thread. Thanks for tossing my JS and MS test knives up too. Looking back on my JS knives Im surprised they passed. The bar is definately higher now than back in 2001.

Oh, come now:D My comment was about the "non-traditional" appearance of some of your test blades, not their quality. That ring knife in your MS set must have raised a few conservative eyebrows too:thumbup:;)

Actually, Bruce I loved and was impressed by the variety of your presentations. Very worthy of the JS and MS status.

Thank you Roger for posting my dagger. As for Adam, he is building a new shop back in Alaska. Adam and Jimmy Chin, will share a table at Blade 2008. After Blade we have Forgeapalooza 2008 here at my shop, fire, steel, and exploding alligators.

Those JS knives should have shook em up some. The Rambo looking sawback with forge welded front and rear bolsters and carbon fibre scales. At the time I didnt know any better but I was the only one that turned in all full tang knives too except for the folder with recycled ferrier file bolsters and carbon fibre scales. Two of them were hollow ground also. :)

A section on the ABS website depicting ALL JS & MS test knives may be a good idea?

Or perhaps on the CKCA website?

Yes, without a doubt. Except they would probably decline out of fear that someone, somewhere, might misconstrue it as promotion of the makers.

The problem is that having a good, professional quality photo takes a material amount of money to do right. I think that would be a good investment for the dues spent BTW.

As a side note, I wonder where the ABS' money goes. All the ABS activities I've been involved in were somewhat commercial in nature and I would hope at least broke even...

They might. However, I don't see anything keeping the CKCA form doing this on our future site?

Actually Kevin, the CKCA having no connection to the ABS, I don't see why we would want to box the makers into a corner. I'd much rather have a system whereby subscribing makers get, as part of their membership, 1 professional photo + hosting. They would get to choose which pieces they want shown. Arguably, a maker who is now part of the AKI might want some of their better, later work displayed.
