July 14, 2022 botm 119 full flat grind

Buck should have a factory authorized Christmas in July sale.

They used to do one for Father's Day.
There's some autos I wanna get..
And Buck won't ship without credentials.

I'm going with the large blade vanguard in 5160 or 3v, iron wood and brass....

my other pick would be my never gonna happen xl vantage in s45vn or cpm154, wood inserts or whatever....not gonna be too picky....

I would go for just about anything with a handle in Shokwood, Ironwood, Oak, Walnut, or Water buffalo. Or any kind of burl.

An affordable, “generic” for the masses 640

I like the long Vanguard idea as well

I’m still all about a clip point 501 too!

Here are a Buck Squire 501, Buck Bantam 284 and Case Caliber LT405L SS for comparison. All have 2 3/4 inch blades and 3 3/4 inch handles. The Case has a Jack Wolf Knives style clip point blade. This might look really nice in the 501 frame.

I’ve always really enjoyed the 501 size, but have always wanted it in a clip blade. That visual just makes me think even more how good it would look. They did a 500, where’s my 501! 😁

Mirror polish or tumbled finish on the blade would compliment the 501's polished bolsters. Have they done a Duke with clip point? The 500 and 112 Ranger have the same length blade, but I'm doubting the geometry is right for a blade swap. If anyone has a photo of a clip point Duke, let's see it!

S45VN seems to be THE premium steel of choice for Buck and I wonder if we will see a fixed blade with it for July. The Flag pad print is a natural choice for a July BOTM but I doubt we will see a release before July 4. I'm always up for a 112 BOTM but please make it with a drop or spear point in a Nickel silver frame. In ANY super steel.

My wish for a BOTM... just about anything that isn't a stainless steel blade that's been Cerakoted.... I can understand the need through when it comes to 5160.

Why? What's "wrong" with an earned blade patina? The German Silver/Nickel Silver and where applicable brass bolsters change color/patina, why not the blade(s) and backspring(s) or lock bar too?

For the BOM I couldn't afford it, but a 110 or 112 with full size 5160 drop point and clip point blades (with long pulls that arn't on the same side) and lock bars, copper bolsters, and horn or antler covers would be nice, in my opinion.
(or a 301 or larger stockman with 5160 blades and springs, color case hardened iron/steel bolsters and liners with checkered walnut covers, with brass or bronze pins and hammer and an anvil shield.)

Regardless of what they came up with and are building, I am confident that (a) it will sell out the day it is released, and (b) I won't have the funds for it.
