JULY BOTM..Maybe a 112?

I saw my email today as it was dawning on me that we need to buy a new dryer - so no funds to even look at it very close. It was a good price point though.

[Side note: Did you know that if you need to replace your dryer, you also need to replace your washing machine? Life according to my wife.....]

I wonder if they went with this spitfire in 420hc instead of a premium blade because of having to get it out early this month before the 4th. Maybe they had plenty of spitfire parts in stock and could assemble them quickly to have them available.

I purchased the July BOTM, but then called Buck and canceled.

I did purchase the June BOTM and love it. It is actually my first 110, but being a limited edition, I am too OCD to carry it. I have decided to display only.

I still wanted a 110 for actual carry/use. I decided a better use of my money would be to go with the 110 Pro with Black G10 and nickel boosters.

I hope I made the right decision!

I wonder, based on the above example, which price point Buck recoups a larger profit.

Material cost, and labor, has to be factored (smaller percentage profit on the higher end materials ?). It seems that Buck is making more money at the $85 - $135 price range - as seen by the BOTM offerings in 2021. Or maybe Buck doesn't feel confident they can sale 500 of a premium knife build

I used the Ron Hood thug for comparison. Discontinued knife. More than likely have blades. Selling a discontinued knife instead of dumping the blades. Trust me, they will scrap them otherwise.

It is a nice looking knife. Your pictures certainly do it justice.
Not sure about the thumb stud since it has a modified spyde hole for opening?
Overall it has a look of the aforementioned hole company.

You could just buy an original standard Buck 110 in Brass and Ebony with the 420HC. IJS

You will not be disappointed with the 110 Pro.

Yet another cheesy cheap looking carnival knife, A double Meh. What is wrong with Buck? Have they given up on making beautiful knives that people would be proud to own? Seems like it. Such a shame. I guess I'll continue to have some of our members rescale my stash of old knives. At least they haven't lost their creativity.
Your comment actually persuaded me to cancel my order. I think your overall sentiment is right. The more I looked at it, the more I realized it wasn’t practical (can’t use it with the flag on the blade), but not really display quality either. I purchased a 110 Pro with black G10 and silver bolsters instead.

Thumbstud help my f d up thumb open the blade. Works very well

Received mine yesterday - wish I would have purchased two ! My first spitfire purchase - nice knife. The July BOTM looks really great in hand - so much better than the Buck pictures. Love the Red, White and Blue colors on the backspacer and the handles.

The colors on the backspacers vary from knife to knife, at least they do on mine to my brothers - the aesthetic look is as if they are hand spray painted. On mine, the blue is a deeper (sprayed / filled in more) blue, but on my brothers the blue is longer. The same for the red color. This version is such a nice knife ! Someone please post some pics (I can't as I have a basic account).
