Is anybody having problems switching from right to left with the Maxpedition Jumbo versipack?
I'm right handed and the wife is a lefty, I would like to buy just one pack.
I know it shows a righty and lefty, does it really make that much difference???
This will be just for short walking sessions with the dogs, 4-5hrs tops. I have bigger backpacks for when we'll be out all day, need to cook...etc.

maybe you should consider the colosus which can be used on either side? the fatboys are definetly meant to be carried on specific sides IMO

I've got the right hand version. I usually carry it that way, but have carried it on the left hand side if I've got a holster on my belt- right side. Not a huge difference either way, but it is more comfortable on the right.

I like the water bottle pocket of the Jumbo, I guess I could just buy a 12x5 and attach it to the Colossus....anybody running that setup???????
As always....pics are helpful!
What do y'all wear when you're stomping around the hills with the family and dogs??

which one is the right side carry?

this is the one i have:

i carry it on the right side, with the strap on the left shoulder. But is this the right or left Jumbo?

I am a righty, I have no problems carrying it on my left side. Just swing it around to the front when I want to get something out. It's more of a junk bag, my Devildog is my long hike bag.

I carry the the one meant for right side carry on my left shoulder. I like to keep the water more accessible!

I find it comfortable!

Bushman,
The one you have is the right hand model. The S Type hangs on the left side.

I actually have one of each because I started with the right hand side and found since I normally have my hiking stick in my right hand, I was always bumping it so I got the S Type.

As far as I know, I didn't think they were "made" to be universal.

im confused, Stormstaff pointed out that one i posted is for right side carry (strap on left shoulder, bag on right).....but my water holster is at the bag, not easily accessible :foot: whats what>? :p

Both of mine when worn on the shoulder they are "supposed" to be worn on (per the company), it places the water bottle in back. I never understood that myself.

I was hoping when I bought the S Type, all that would change was the strap but nope, it's a mirror image so the water bottle is in the back still.

I just reread my post, sorry. Instead of left shoulder I meant side. I have the same one as your pic. I wear it on my left side placing the water bottle at the front.

Well, I went and ordered one thats supposed to be right side carry.
I'll wear it on my left side and the wife will be the opposite...I only ordered 1 pack so well share the load.
I want it on the left because I always have my pistol with me and thats in my holster.
I guess I'll see if it works or if I have to buy another one.
I also ordered a 12x5 so I can carry an extra water bottle and I have an el cheapo water bottle holder for the dog...she gets thirsty too :)
I'll post pics and a review when I give it a day in the field.
Everybody already knows about these but I'll give my 2 cents worth.....if its even worth that much!

I have been looking at the versipack for a long time, but I just can't pull the trigger on them. Although I haven't seen one in real life, I just can't get rid of the nagging feeling that it would look like a man purse.

So, will anybody admit they do look like a murse, or can you convince me I'll feel like Tarzan when I wear one?

you'll feel like Tarzan!!!! these look more like heavy duty camera bags, with a bit of a military look. Strap on a blade or pack a firearm in the weapons pocket and you'll feel manly!

That's the right side carry in the picture.
I carry it on the left when i'm drinking alot of water. IT's ok that way but it feels best on the right.

The s-type is the left side carry. Try Ebay...maybe you can find a couple cheap enough to buy both?

If you sling it arround on your back side...it doesn't look like a man purse. Best day hike pack Ive ever owned. The squrrells never cover their mouth with their little arms and laugh at me!

I was worried about it too, but I think it looks more "military" or "tactical" when worn than "murse-like". Put some morale patches on it... that helps a lot. Knowing you have a 1911 or Glock inside the thing doesn't hurt, either. :D

I bought the normal (right side) version because I planned to carry it while grouse hunting. A daypack's shoulder straps sometimes interfere with mounting a shotgun. The Versipack solves that problem AND provides a convenient and discrete way to carry a sidearm. I like mine.

Stay sharp,
