Junglas - What does it do?

THe Junglas in hand will do what you'd like it to do , mainly a large blade such as the Junglas is considered a chopper,it is perfect for hacking and whacking limbs in the 7/8"-3" range it will chop thicker stuff but requires more work from the person weilding the Junglas....Coupled with a Smaller FB( Izzy or 3) and a nice pocket folder you would not need much more on a camping trip.

The purpose of the Junglas is to look really cool after chopping down small trees. A chainsaw, machete, or axe would not look as good.

Yes sir, you nailed the whole purpose of what we build and what we do. It's all about looking pretty and being cool.

All kidding aside about looking cool, which the Junglas does, it is one of the best handling big knives out there. You use it for whatever one uses a big knife for. It slashes vegetation like a machete, chops like an axe, and can even do fuzz sticks. In my terrain, a knife like this comes in real handy.

If one were to have an Izula2, Hest, etc. and a Junglas would there be any practical reason to need a 4, 5, or 6? Perhaps one of these are still applicable as a packable do everything option? Does anyone actually carry the Junglas? Or is it your lawn care, car camp knife?

Thats it. A junglas can nearly do,what a chainsaw, a machete and an axe can do.
That make it a very good tool.

The Junglas along with a folder is all I need in the woods.
I have no lawn (it's all driveway out front and gravel in back) and no car, so yes, I carry it.:)

I bought the Junglas because I like large fixed blades. I have a bunch of them and I carry them when hiking and backpacking. The Junglas is a well made knife with a better sheath than any of my production choppers. But I sold it because the handle is too wide for my small to medium hand.
The production choppers that fit me better are the Cold Steel Trail Master and the Becker BK9. I think the Becker is a better value of the two.

I will kill a bear with one. That is, if it doesn't run away when I draw the mighty Junglas from its sheath.

Roger that. Could you get some red ESEE panties on that knife? And does it do windows?

Thanks, I have a better idea now of how this knife can be used. I don't usually need anything stronger than a folder, but when I do, I'd probably need a chopper, since that's the one thing a folder can't do at all. Can't really split a coconut with a folder... But I'll see if I can find a place where I can test one out and see if it's too big and heavy as some people have brought up.

I think of it as decorative wall piece. The Black coating on the blade really stands out against my mauve colored accent wall!!

If I found the handles to thick, wide, etc, but I like the knife, then I'll modify it. Either use a file, and or 100 grit sand paper. I've had to do this to all my Ontarios, at least the micarta handles.

It's heavy on a belt, not in the hand.
Try pack carry or a baldric type thing.

Let me answer this in my way. I love knives because I use knives and use them hard. I have every other knife that ESEE makes, and even multiples of most, but I don't own a Jungalas. I think I would like it for it's "cool" factor and would use it to "play" but as far as real usefulness I find an ax or machete much more beneficial as chopping tools.
