• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Jungle Trip July 08'

Nice work as usual, and a thumb up:thumbup: to Jeff's kydex sheaths, I have one, super nice.

Hey Ruben, Whats your opinion on minimum machete length for the jungle down there? Would a 12in Tram do good, Or is bigger definatly better?

Machete length 18" rules over there. We were supplied Tramontina 22" machetes when I was a student but I preffered to use my own 18" Machete. I think a person could get away with using the Tramontina 14" Bolo machete too.

Cool, Im sendin my Okapi in for kydex, I am doin some pimpin to it right now.

Where did you get it? Pictures? Is it a full tang?

I was thinking of trying an Ontario Economy model sometime but the Jeff H Sheath has made me want to stick with the Tramontina.

just to say

i dont really like the 14inch bolo tram,
i prefer the regular style 14inch tram and my new okapi 5000p from a certain member from a certain thread

It was gifted to me from Myal. Its 16in blade, full tang. The handle needs alittle sanding on the rough parts, and I am gonna convex the edge, and bring it closer to the handle.
Initial impression is its a well made machete. I used it to clear some brush at my dads farm over the weekend, and the edge held up great w/o any damage, which tells me its got a good heat treat. I snapped some pics for ya man........

Thanks J, I like the Tramontina Machete in orange, only to be found in Peru that I have seen. I feel a little bit of play in the handle between the plastic and the actuall machete steel. That is becouse Jeff was chopping on some of the hardest wood ever chopped by a machete. I guess it rattled the rivets a bit. You can see pictures of him chopping it in the thread.
