Well, just got my first Junkyard Dog II, arrived today from our fav supplier, NGK :)

What a knife! I keep turning it over in my hands looking at it from all angles
and wow, so nicely made and designed, kudos to Tim Galyean for sure.

Arrived spanking sharp out of the box, smooth opening and solid lockup
an amazing combination in a very affordable knife!

If you've not gotten one by now, do so, while the clip is an eye catcher
it also dissappears when you grip the knife, pretty much so, your hand
naturally grabs around the clip without it being in the way.

Will add photos when I can, but I know there are several folks here with
some nice eye candy, some of which made me pull the trigger, thanks guys! ;)

I know this is a JYD2 thread, but I just picked up a JYD1 today and have not been able to put it down since.

I read that some people weren't happy with the flipper on the JYD1 because of weight, but man oh man is this thing smooth.

I just bought a Leek TIZDP a couple of weeks ago mainly for EDC while not at work, but I think this JYD1 is going to be my EDC for both work and when I'm off.

Best of all I had gone to a local hardware store thinking I was going to pay a little more than online and they let me have it for $25.00 and I got to select this one out of three they had. Blade is marked APR 07.

Now I'm gonna have to buy a JYD2 as well. I think I have the Kershaw Knife disease.

My son is green with envy.:D LOL

Great to hear the JYD's are pleasing.

Look for some variations of both sizes of the Dogs over the next month or so. Will keep you all posted with details and specs.

I love the JYDs, both. The big one flicks veeery smooth, the weight of the longer blade help, I love these. Anybody up for an S30V version? Maybe Ti frame plus SGPsteel

Here are some images quickly taken tonight, sweet knife!

The flipper works just as fast as a AO, more of an inertia opening. The detent is strong and the force builds up as you push on the flipper till it "pops" open.

Yah, what Samhain72 says, much like some customs that also have a flipper
tab that you can press against to open the knife, very handy and works great!

I have a 1 of 500 1st production run and that is the smoothest flipper I have seen. A great buy for the money. Kevin:thumbup:

How does it compare with the CRKT M1? That's my EDC, but the blade sits differently within the liners depending how tight the pivot screw is. Does the JYDII break down easily?

Thanks,
Biscuits

My only problem is deciding whether I want to order the JYD1 or 2 first. I've been getting away from bigger folders lately so I thought I'd go with 1, but they both look very nice.

What carried me over was the thickness of the handles, too slim just doesn't
do it for me, this has a nice heft to it, very secure.

The JYD1 looks great though, I've not held one, no one around here carries
knives in stores :( but looking at the photos, the knife is a lot thinner handle
wise...

Yep. You hit the nail on the head Gary. The JYDII is one I love also. Been saying it since the day it arrived here. I still think it will hold its own with the best tacticals out there and certainly please anyone that is into some EKIs and other tacticals with a higher price tag. In fact the first time they flip it open they'll lose it when they feel that silky action. I know I did.

I couldn't agree with you more. I consider the Kershaw JYD II as one of the best tactical folders on the market. I've been carrying mine exclusively every day since I got it.

Hey Thomas. Any chance of the JYD II getting the assisted opening treatment?

Since the JYD is a Tim Galyean design and not a Ken Onion, I wouldn't count on it. Plus, the flipper on the JYDs is just as fast and effortless as the Speedsafe AO!

I got to handle the JYDII last year at the Blade show. Picked one up last month. It was worth the wait. The flipper is lightning fast and the lock up solid. I love having it in my edc rotation. It's hard to keep in my pocket.

I have a JYD1 and just love this knife! It's the perfect size and smooth as any knife I've ever had. It was hard waiting for but so worth the wait. It's been in my pocket every day. *funny note, the more I learn and expirence so called "higher end steels", the more I seem to gravitate back to the simpler more basic steels. I love this Sandvic 13C26. Thank you, Kershaw!
