Just a couple of shooting pics from Canada!

Geordie, very cool pics and info...I need me one of those!

And, loved the link to that old thread too! :D

always jealous of those shootin pics ya post, can't wait to get my pal.

cheers

JC

You nailed it, paired up with a 1911, your golden. Now I wish I could get one for under 1500 bucks here.:grumpy:

Oh well.

Don't have it on the rig in those pics but there is a .223 mag shingle first slot on the right...use it to hold a 1911, plus 4 spare mags in the magnetic holders from tadgear!

The elastic cord closure slides perfectly over the hammer, making the pouch pretty secure. Although if you hit the ground hard, I think there would be the possibility of ejecting the mag!

Never happened to me but I think it might be possible.

That's a great m14 rig though as it splits in front, and the m14 is really an intermediate distance rifle IMO, so the ability to go prone is probably worth something.

mymindisamob - I wouldn't know, I've never owned a mini-14! Only many copies of the M14s!

Brian if there was a way to get you one for the prices we pay I would get it to you! But if your country hadn't prohibited these things, we wouldn't have gotten them so cheap, so your loss is clearly our gain!

and jca, man, get yourself that pal and grab one of these and something - anything - restricted! You never know how long this government will last and if it gets replaced by the obvious alternative, we are going to lose a LOT of stuff. Buy now!!!

:foot:My bad! See what happens when I post while sick and sleepy (and maybe a little drinking;))? Well you have a very cool setup there and thanks for sharing.

Hey, don't feel bad...if you didn't know how cheap they were up here, how could you expect a deadbeat like me to afford the real thing?

I actually kicked around the idea of buying a mini-14 just for cheaper practise with the same control system, or possibly a mini-30. But you know, I just don't trust them to not jam on me!

Well, I did just pick up a couple more crates of the steel-cased chinese surplus for $495 per 1000.

But if you were to be buying PMC, say? That's in the $850 per 1000 range. Lots of the decent stuff is buck-a-bang kind of thing.

How do you like them apples?

Fortunately I have thousands and thousands of pieces of brass so I don't stress TOO much...now that I have less money these days I will probably begin the reloading process for those.

But man, I bought 3000 rounds of the chinese surplus for $250 per 1000 just a few years ago...wish I'd bought 10,000 at that price!

Ouch man, I don't like them apples at ALL. Yeah, I remember the good old days when I could shoot 5 for a buck. Those days seem to be long gone...

great stuff geordie... look like a lot of fun... i have always liked those mini-14's...
love that link to that old thread...:D there's some great shots in there too...you and erin definately seem like some cool cats..

AAAUUUGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

lol! We seem cool from a distance but at close range we are probably quite grating! Well, Erin is not grating, she is actually quite quiet.

But I am definitely a "best in small doses" personality!

Five for a dollar...you made me cry

I have this faint hope that when all the current wars end there will be a sudden glut of surplus ammo...I know it's a faint hope but what else can you do?

Come on, economic instability, let's see some of those falling commodities prices!

Guys, you are upsetting misanthropist. There is a little difference btwn the mini 14 and the M14. It doesn't pay to upset a man with an M14 in hand.... :D

Yes, we need to be clear!

Mini-14 - 5.56 or Mini 30 - 7.62x39

M-14 - US Service Rifle (and various aftermarket productions) - 7.62x51

Springfield Armory SOCOM16 - 16" barreled M-14

While there "may" be similarities in the Mini-14 to the M-14, BIG difference! :D

I am jealous of $400 M-14 Norinco copies. :grumpy: I'd have 6 or 10 of them.

The cheap m-14s and all the other cool mil-surp stuff (SVT-40s are one of my favorite rifles, and the 7.62x54R is the cheapest centerfire rifle cartridge on the market right now) that can be had just across the river from me has had me thinking about getting my PAL and buying a few rifles. The only thing in the way is finding a way/place to legally and safely store them in Canada, as I couldn't import them back into the US. I'd have to go over to shoot, but Windsor is actually much closer than where I currently go.
