Just a heads up about upcoming transition

Well, I really really mean it this time - we're going to be transitioning away from vBulletin in the near future to a different forum software. This would have happened roughly a year ago had we not had multiple repeated server issues with the hosting company and some other issues that had to be resolved.

We have a working test forum up and running right now, and I am doing setups and configurations of it. When it is ready for soft testing, the moderators will be informed and they will have some time to get familiar. After that, we will do a week or so soft open to give it some stress testing from the user base. After that, we will do a final import, then cutover from the vBulletin software.

The new software will have many new features and a much friendlier appearance. I'm hoping everyone will like it. More news to follow, thank you for your support.

This is terrific. Change is hard.

We will all not like it for about, ohhhhh, a day or so. HA!

I hope the text is spaced a little farther apart like I asked for in THIS POST. Worth the switch!!! ;)

Xenforo, it's a platform written by former vB devs who left when vB was bought out a decade ago.

Went and looked as some other forums running Xenforo (If you want an example that gets a TON of traffic BF does, go look at IGN) and the software looks really, really good.

I hope the change goes well Spark. Good luck!!! I'm apprehensive of such a large change, especially after seeing SO much lost in a software change on CandlePowerForums years back. So much good info, data, and intelligent discussion lost into the ether forever. :(

Here's to hoping it goes much smoother here!
 
All the previous posts will be retained & imported into the new system, so nothing really should be "lost" - early reports are pretty favorable.

Yes, hence the importance of ALWAYS backing up data. whether it be on your hoe computer or on larger scale database. ALways back up your stuff.
 
How's it going? Soft start yet for mods?
