Will there be a "like" button? can you add a like button if not?

nevermind. i found the new forum, saw a like button!! also saw "strike through" which i would do to the above sentence, but alas, no option on this forum software that i can find.

[ strike]...[ /strike] without the spaces.

One feature I am not finding on the new site is the ability to go straight to the last post I have viewed in a thread. As a mod in Traditional, that feature is invaluable to me. I normally read or at least scan every post that gets made in that forum. If I have to go find the last post I've not read in a thread, that would be a major bummer.

Also, in the old software, I can click on the number of posts in the thread and get a list of all the posters with the number of posts they have made in that thread. I occasionally find that useful but not a critical loss if I can't do it in the new software.

Beta issues? user stupidity? or just not going to be features?

There should be a blue circle to the left of the thread title (and the mod checkbox) on the new software. Click that to go straight to unread posts in the thread.

Just a heads up: transition will be coming in the next 48-72 hours (hopefully)

Here's a little known egg I've found, any of the Lifers here who remember the chicklets the like system has all the stupid comments we made right before the HPIC took it away because we abused it. You can hover click on likes received on the profile drop down box and it'll pull up all the comments associated with the chicklets that were given back in the early years. It was a fun trip down memory lane. Reading some of the comments, I can see how we got outta control, Let's see how the like button works out.

Letter rip kevin, I'm ready and familiar enough after playin' in the beta site.

Quick question Kevin, will there be any major new changes that you can give us a heads up on? Will there be a new FAQ in regards to the new platform? You know their gonna hammer tech support with all kinds of silly questions. Thanks for givin' us a chance to play before you flip over, I feel moderately comfortable navigating it and it'll make it easier to help answer questions with the other folks as they come up.

There will be a new FAQ, but honestly so much of the new software is easier to use and just works that I think a great deal of the common questions will be avoided altogether. For example, when people get paid subscriptions, it'll automatically show up on their profile & will be displayed. Given the number of "why can't I post [x]" or "why isn't my membership showing up [y]" threads, it'll be awesome. There'll also be the ability to gift memberships, private messages will become "conversations" so you won't have to worry about sent PMs interfering with limits, there's the ability to tag users in threads with @[username] if you want them to know they are being talked about, and more. The media gallery is going to be neato too.

There's some new features that will also be available that I'm still getting a handle on. More soon.

Spark I have never had the pleasure of speaking with you. I just want to know/ request that the new site continues to have a front page where you can see all the threads that have been most recently posted on. I mean in contrast to a front oage that lists the different catagories such a General, Traditional, wine and Cheese.

I prefer as I'm sure many others do a front page like it is now where you don't have to go to each subsection of the forum to find the latest posts. You can just go to the home page and see where all the recent activity has been.

Obviously this is just a request/ suggestion so do with it what you will. Thank you for putting this board together and running such a tight ship.

I'll see if that's possible.
