Hi folks! It has been quite a while since I hosted something here :) A lot has happened since my last GAW and I don't spend as much time here as I used to...I try to check in from time to time though.
So I thought it would be fun to give away a special little knife that I put together a while back. Truth be told, it took me several attempts and failures to successfully modify a Case Peanut. It was one of the first things I tried to do when I started modifying slipjoints. I was foolishly convinced that smaller slipjoints would be easier to work on. Hahaha!!! Oh I was so mistaken. However, this is what I had in mind. meako meako provided me the perfect name...the Cashew. A single blade Peanut with slightly thicker scales. This one in maroon linen micarta.
I'd love to pass this on to anyone in the Cult of the Peanut or whoever would like to carry, what I consider to be, the perfect coin pocket knife.

To enter, I thought it would be fun to share a hobby, outside of knives, that you are passionate about. For me, it has been this bad boy :)

I'll let this go until we get enough folks entered then draw a winner by random method. I would prefer this went to a contributing member of the Porch. Please feel free to nominate a friend  Good luck!

I would like to nominate meako meako . Hopefully he can gift this beautiful knife to the Countess 😃. My hobby is like yours, but I prefer to make more power than noise. That and handles like a thoroughbred in the corners.

My last bike was an R6 :) I am a lot more chill these days. Having said that, I have been impressed how well my HD handles up in the twisties. Sweet bike dude!

The R6 is a great ride! I’ve reached the age of 65 and still won’t leave chicken strips on my rear tire. Ride hard die free! Or to paraphrase HST, some people will tell you that slow is good and it may be on some days. But I’ve always believed that fast is better. I rather be shot out of a cannon than squeezed out of a tube and that is why god created fast motorcycle… buba. 😃

Thanks for a cool giveaway, Darren! I'd prefer to nominate r8shell r8shell who loves small knives and does a good bit of modification herself. When I'm not fondling knives, I like to roast coffee.

I wish had been able to get more of this kind as it was a delicious roast:

You can't go wrong with coffee :) That stuff looks awesome. I'm cool with just "coffee" but we basically have a small shop on our kitchen counter (for the wife)...every imaginable device related to coffee.

I got into roasting when I visited a missionary in Slovakia who was doing it with an old popcorn popper. I was surprised at how much better it tasted. When I discovered that I could roast coffee that tasted better than anything over the counter for less that $7/lb. and with a lot more variety of region and roast profile, I was hooked.

Awesome looking knife, I'm a huge fan of the peanut but only ever liked the pen blade for its spring/added thickness. Some extra thick covers is a great solution. I'm in!

I collect a few other categories of things, cast iron and rocks. Finding old cast iron and restoring them to use is super satisfying, and easy to make enough profit to pay for itself. I'm very interested in mineralogy and geology, so collecting rocks and minerals is a great way to reinforce concepts and see optical phenomena that aren't done justice by technical descriptions or mechanical explanations, and are also just natural wonders to inspire awe. In both cases there is a ton of variety to understand, lots of interesting history, and just plain aesthetic value.

Rocks and minerals also play nicely into a minor photography hobby.

That is very cool! Wonderful photo

Nice GAW, so "bump" back to page one.

Not an entry for me. Peanuts are just a bit on the small side in my hands/ fingers and too fumbly. I do like your choice of handle material.

The only hobby I have left that gets me outdoors is photography, especially mil aviation and old warbirds.

This evening after spending a little time on my other hobby I swapped out my Vic Tinker Small and dropped my peanut into my pocket. Seemed like a good change, and the peanut was on my dresser. I really don’t have a use for more than a peanut during my normal week. That got me thinking about the porch…so I here I am!

My other hobby is an air cooled VW bug, and here is a pic of me using my peanut while servicing the distributor. Playing shade tree mechanic is a great source of humility. I’m never as good as I imagine I’ll be. I actually don’t have a single pic of the whole car on my phone, an oversight I’ll correct shortly.

I’m in for this very cool GAW.

Lovely giveaway.

My hobbies include canoeing, snow boarding, shooting, throwing axes/hawks/knives, making knives and riding motorcycles.

Here are my daily drivers. I ride about an hour every day I work. I put 5k miles on the bike this year.

Well there you go...perfect timing :) I have a few friends who are into older VW. Here are a few of their toys.
