On the left below is a Colonial Forest Master with original chain and compass/magnifying glass complete, (that's rare, I've only seen one other with the chain and it was missing the compass off the top.

I like the concept and wished there was a more modern better made version, there isn't so I made my own.

Cool pics Ted

Great picture, Jack! Good to see you out and about:D

Thanks my friend, at least when I was hobbling up my street I was faster than the snail on the pavement! :D

I am not certain who made the knife for Shapleigh Hardware Company, nifebrite. A number of manufactures made knives for them. I'd sure like to hear some opinions:D Sorry I could not help more.

Edit... Norvell-Shapleigh changed their name to Shapleigh Hardware Co. around 1917. Check out some of the links for more in depth history:thumbup: If you have any more question I would be happy to try and help:D

Thank You for the hints, Gevonovich.
It took me a while to find out a little about the Company, and I read in another forum comment that Schrade manufactured the pocket knives for Shapleigh.
Seems like their Diamond Edge Trademark has been used for sveral kinds of edge tools (knives, razors, axes, cutlery,...).
Maybe old firm catalogues could give more information with pictures to compare, unfortunately I couldn't get insight.
I found something in the "Blade's Guides to knives and their values" Book about the firm history:
"In 1940, Simmons was acquired by its long-time St. Louis rival, the Shapleigh Hardware Co. Keen Kutter became Shapleighs second brand, after its own Diamond-Edge. Following the Shapleigh firm's demise in 1960, Imperial acquired the Diamond-Edge mark, while „Keen Kutter“ vanished from the marketplace."

How many blades has Your knife, two?
Or does it look like this?

That is another beautiful knife that I had never heard of but , I guess I will never forget the old Offenhausers . That would be cool to work on .
