Say you see a knife, that you wanna buy. It's an online store. You ask for a couple of pics(can't really see it too well on the website). Respond - if you wanna more pics - price goes up
I'm puzzled..... Really?

Funny story, I just had an email making a very similar request. But my response (included below) was not exactly as you try to make it sound. So we must not be talking about the same email ;)

I have a 100% satisfaction guarantee because my basic photo setup is not nearly as comprehensive as holding it in your hand.

But I must say that I may need to put small disclaimer's at the bottom of emails for the humor impaired. The joke was that if I take multiple angle shots of every knife on my site then the overhead drives the prices up.

Sorry if there was some confusion or if you were offended. I'll send you the knife for examination if that would be better.

You can ask ;>

If I take more pictures I have to raise the price... If you aren't happy with it, send it back.

Thanks
Mike

if i had received that response, i would not have seen the humor either.

matter of fact question, matter of fact response.

what seems funny to you as you type it is going to lose something in the translation. without verbal inflection or without knowing you personally why would anyone assume you are joking?

No, we are talking about the same email. I'm aware of your reputation, that is why I'm interested in the opinion of other members. You can't blame me for that. As I stated - I'm puzzled and I also stated, in my second post, that maybe I'm wrong. If you answer was of ironic nature - sorry, but I didn't see the irony. Problem with returns and inspection - USA and Canada Customs(my email is clearly of canadian origin .....@.....ca - if knife needs to be returned - that's a huge hassle and whole bunch of things can go wrong) :(

To be honest, I didn't think I was asking for an impossible.

Thus the little wink wink nudge nudge to start the response off.;) But if someone is such a stickler for seriousness does the "no questions asked" return offer not ease the pain a little of not seeing the knife in several riske positions on my little homemade light tent?

It takes me about 30 minutes to get the tent setup, take the pictures, put them on the computer, crop-edit-save, and email. I get about 10 requests a day for similar and just re-emphasize my return policy. Have not yet had someone take offense (that streak is over with) ;). But if you want to see it as something nasty, I guess I can understand how it could be made to look that way. Even more so in the way it was presented originally. My bad; until I forget I will respond to all requests in a very detailed, non-humor intended fashion ;)

Life is too short to get all balled up over an interpretation of an email. If you don't know how it was meant, ask me. Or better yet call my 800 number. You will quickly figure out that I always have a smile on my face and never take myself too seriously.

In my email it does not show the email address only the formal name you plugged into yours. I have to look at headers to see actual addresses. You are right, shipping it over borders does complicate things. If you still want more pictures let me know and when I get the tent back out for pictures I will try and get a few more.
