Just arrived today. Move over, my Moras!

Liam, thanks for the offer, but I'll have to wait on any more purchases for now.

Not in Canada, but sometimes I wish I was.:D Live in California, where the sun always shines, the rain never falls and we all fight over the water allotments because they won't stop building golf courses and huge estates.:barf:

j_aime_k - I really like the #1. It definitely has a more delicate or precise feel to it. It slices and carves well. I won't put the baton to it, though.

You should be able to baton just fine w/the #1 -- see the test at Outdoors Magazine HERE. The article refers to the knife used as a #1 but it is actually the thinner #2 Bird and Trout, only 3/32" stainless. --Glen

Normark thats cool!
I will be in touch with the details, I have to make sure my dad can send it to you from Nova Scotia, he isn't too knife savvy so I will have to email him a pic of it and I'm sure there are going to be a few more hoops to jump through, but shouldnt be a problem.

Hey Liam..

Not a problem..

Just shoot me an email and let me know what you need,, and need for it...

I just seen your post on the other thread about the clipper..

Hey Guys...

Rigson...

Actually I have been in communication with Michelle all morning..

Here are a few quotes from emails, used with permission.

Michelle: "We have no affiliation whatsoever with Cold Steel"

As for my direct question to her about what steel they use.

Michelle: " Ours, as always, is still german high carbon stainless, we mostly use 4110, kind of like a 440 US series steel."

Michelle: "We use something similar to a C70 in the carbon #1, also german again"

They do not use Krupp steel, and don't know what it is.

Grohmann is fully aware of Cold Steel's copy of their designs, and they quite possibly may or may not be preparing a public statement in regards of this design being made by Cold Steel.

I want it understood that I in no way speak for Grohmann Knives, and my quotes may or may not have been taken out of context.

If Grohmann decides to relaese a statement, I will do my best to bring it to you..

Grohmann Knives Very Much Appreciates the support they have recieved from this and other forums and will continue to bring it's customers the high quality knives they are accustomed to.

Thanks for that Eric! I look forward to Grohmann's official statement.

You can't blame CS for wanting to copy the #1, it's a helluva design and great knife!

Hey Guys..

Rigson..

no problem....

Yaa you can blame them for copying the design ...

Intellectual property remains the property of the owner of the design, unless it has been licensed by the owner.

What Cold Steel has done is side stepped the licensing process to avoid paying royalties to the owner, because they know a law suit is generally out of reach for most companies and people who own these designs, such as Brian Tighe, Grohmann and Strider Knives.

What it shows is Exactly what kind of company Cold Steel is.

At one time Cold Steel was on the very top of the knife heap, a respected company for the products they designed themselves...

Now look at them....

That's a shame about CS. Thanks for asking for us, Normark. Now it looks like it will be Grohmann or nothing for me. Not going to support such blatant copying, legal or not.

I remember back in the 80's when Cold Steel was a company that I looked up to! They were making some good stuff back then!!

It seems with success LT has become greedy and has dropped quality time after time. Lately it has been some seriously crazy shit like the tactical bat, sharpie, etc... NOW he is blatantly ripping of other peoples intellectual property!

I am sorry, but IF he will go as low as to rip off designs from a company, why wouldn't they cut corners in production for a few bucks also! Where do you stop being a shmuck???

I would not trust a CS product any farther than I could piss!! I see a company that used to be a good one trying VERY hard to make itself one of the lowest in the industry and I feel they have almost made it to the bottom! Here is to your success CS! Welcome to the lowest rungs on the ladder! It was a long climb down, but you have almost made it!!

:thumbdn:

Well said Tom.

My problem is it's impossible to buy any non-ripoff product of CS without funding the company as a whole and funding the game of who do they want to steal from next.

Very sad indeed, since I really like some of the wierd stuff they come up with.
