Just as a fun Friday night thread, what knife would 007 carry?

I can see a custom gentleman's folder...something like the Lion Steel cocobolo offerings, but an auto. Thoughts? (Yeah, wife is out for her cousin's 21st on a girls' night out and I'm bored! :D )

Something by microtech maybe I can see bond with an auto more than a manual. Heck maybe a fixed blade if he's out diving 1 gazillion meters with his fancy equipment :D

Yeah, definitely an auto :) maybe some full custom along the lines of the spyderco vallotton, or the bm skirmish?

(no worries OP, at least you're not at work like me :) )

Depends on the Bond if you ask me. Sean Connery and George Lazenby would have had something like a Case Peanut, I can imagine Roger Moore with some sort of Italian stiletto, Timothy Dalton would have had a Microtech probably, Pierce Brosnan would definitely be a Sebenza guy, and Daniel Craig would have a Zero Tolerance 0300. Those are my picks.

I have no doubt it would be a custom....wonder about the quality of bladesmiths in "Q" Branch....lol

This :D

As an aside, here, the reason for starting the thread is that after years of absolutely loving the Bond movies (Connery and Craig are my favorites) I finally starting reading the Fleming novels. Craig has Bond's actual character nailed, in my opinion, more than any other actor....I still love the Connery Bond because he's so smooth, the movies have that delightful 60s campiness, and he's Sean F'in Connery..

The books are excellent, btw.

He carries what appears to be a Gerber Guardian or similar boot knife in Quantum of Solace so, there you go.

When you can hit them in the eye with a Walther 7.65 at 25 yards why would you carry a knife? All he would carry is a gold lighter and his cigarette case. :D

I trying to recall if Bond ever used a knife in the books or movies.

Matt Helm was more the knife guy. Not in the gawd awful movies, but in the books by Donald Hamiltion which are nothing like the films and well worth a read.
He favored very basic folders, unlikely to draw attention, and often in lieu of any gun. Freqeuently an extremely sharp Gerber Sportsman. Helm liked to use his brain and work up close and personal.

Awesome and well completed answer

As a matter of fact he did, Fleming made Bond a big fan of the FairBairn and Sykes dagger during his time in the SAS/MI6 (cant remember which)

I think the best tool Bond could carry would be a multi-tool of some sort. Like a BO Victoronix Spirit

That is what sprung to mind when I thought about Fleming's Bond. For the Daniel Craig version I'm thinking a Microtech Halo.

I think this really hit it on the head. I think the 2 things you need to consider were that he was ex-SAS and a pilot I believe and that he carried a Walther PPK, not the fanciest piece of equipment, if anyone has fired one they know what I mean.
