its a 2x42 belt, 9" disc, 3/4 HP

Paid $60, think I did ok?

If it runs, you got a killer deal. If it doesn't run well, then you might end up spending a bit to get it fixed.

It sure does look like a rugged tool, cast iron tools rests, I would be doing the dance of joy if I ran across a deal like that LOL

glad to hear that. and ya it seems really heavy duty, it wasn't fun to carry into my house, lol.

yes 123, it has adjustable speed.

Update on this grinder:

When I looked up the model it stated 2x42 belts. it's actually not 2x42.. its something else. I used a string to measure around the wheels where a belt would fit, and it came to around 52" would that mean i need exactly a 52 belt? not sure how belt sizing works.

here's a picture of it with a 42:

also the belt tensioning lever needs some work: the screw that tightens the lever down broke off and it's stick inside. might have to drill a bigger hole for a new one or find another way to secure the lever.

here's where it goes

Looks like it will make a pretty bad ass sander when I have it all worked out.

Theres a little tool called an easyout that should get you going with the broken screw thing

if you set your tension pulley to minimum what does it measure then, I would think that would be your belt size, rounding up to the next whole number

fixed the screw issue. the belt is ~53".. looks like I'm screwed, lol.

maybe ill make my own belts...

Check to see if you could use a 60" belt that would get you back to a more common
size. You may or may not have enough take up on your tensioning.
Ken.

I measured where a belt would go with a string, it's about 53 so both 60 and 48 are too far. a 48 would never fit, and a 60 will be too big.

it was comical with the 42" cant even get around 2 of the 3 wheels

I'd start with the name plate on the side.

what's the model number, goggle it and find a manual.
sometimes the belt size is right there in the model name.

More than likely, one or more of the wheels has been replaced with a larger size. Is the platen waaaaay forward, or is that an illusion?

Yeah, now that you mention it that top wheel looks a lot newer than the rest of the machine. Not sure if it's big enough to cause that much of a change in belt length but who knows....
