Just bought my most expensive knife

So far it feels very similar to the GM2 in my pocket, at least as far as weight goes. That means I can't even tell it's there. My 560 weighed 6.something ounces, pretty sure this is around 4.

Someone tell me I shouldn't care about the two things above so I can get back to loving everything about it :D

Few more:

Oh yes, you did the right thing. Congrats on your acquisition.
I got mine from a member here. I wanted an elmax blade and smooth black wash.
It has quickly become my go to carry.

Just purdy :) How would you rate the smoothness of the action?

It rockets out when you use the flipper. It's pretty smooth, I pretty much echo what Nick Shabazz said in his review. It'll close under its own weight with a little jiggling but it doesn't fall closed, probably because of the blade weight.

So I'm guessing with my "concerns" about the edge geometry and little nicks near the lock not getting any comments that they're nothing to care about? :)

I'm convinced I can find fault with anything I look at so I'm trying to correct that about myself, to the point I legitimately don't know what warrants concern anymore.

I also love the pocket clip, it is so smooth when I put it in and take it out of my pocket.

The nicks would not bother me as well. You will make more if you use the knife anyway.

What surprises me is why choose this over a Sebenza when everybody says to get that knife first?

You can get the same basic design in a knife as your Olamic and is a pretty common design. Check out the CH 3504 for about $75. bucks and it has S35VN steel and ball bearings with excellent ergos. I have 2 of them and use them and they are really amazing knives.

Why should I get a knife just because everyone says I should? So by saying a $75 knife is just as good as Olamic (and Sebenza since the quality of this knife is everything a Sebenza is) you wouldn't own a Sebenza either? Sebenzas do nothing for me because their ergos suck in my option. Slabs of Ti with little contouring and no texture unless you jump up to the next price level. I've looked at them numerous times and always wind up asking why I'd want to spend $500 on a knife that does nothing for me in the looks department or the feel department. Yes they are great feeling in the aspect of actual use and smoothness, but so is my 247, every bit as much. Difference here is I also like the way it feels in my hand and how it looks and from what I've heard, they stand behind their product. I know nothing about CH or their warranty department other than this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ew-weeks-ago-from-a-New-Jersey-importer/page5

And in there it looks like they make clones of clones. Plus I'll take M390 over S35VN and on that particular knife, the skull is ridiculous looking.

That's s cool. I used to feel the same way as you about Sebenzas. I even bought several back in the 90's and then sold them because I wanted to try more badass knives like Strider, Hinderer ext. Years later and after going thru every high end production and semi production folder I decided to try Sebenzas again and realized what they are all about.

We all go through our own journey with knives. Sometimes that takes us full circle.

As far as the warranty for CH . Who cares? Just buy another for $70. They are solid knives though and not much I have heard can go wrong with the quality control. IMO after going through all the high end knives these are on par with them. You can take my advice or leave it. For $70 bucks though it makes you think.

I have no dog in the fight as far as Sebenzas go. Have not been able to compare one next to other knives yet. I like the history behind them though.

I'd definitely have to handle a CH, but little details go a long way with me. The guy who owns the company was in this thread out of nowhere to personally thank me, I like supporting companies that do things like that because nowadays few companies really give a damn about the people giving them money. Call me crazy, but I'll pick a $400 knife made in America where the owner personally thanks you and reaches out to you over some Chinese company that doesn't care. I'd still like to handle one of the CH now to compare though.

So, am I too understand that the age old axiom that you "get what you pay for"

No longer applies to knives?

I post this in response to the "Chinese clone love"

I bought a 247 from russianknives.com. (They're part of Rosarms and are located in Chicago). I highly recommend them. Outstanding service, quick shipping, and their prices are better than anyone else's. They don't have the selection that some have, but it's pretty good nonetheless. They're an authorized Olamic dealer.

Love the knife. It's a tremendous value. I may have to get another variation. Enjoy.

well the price is not going to last long on these knives. They will go up.

Look at WE Knives. They are now $300. and still worth every penny.

The Chinese have entered the knife market and have the machines and ability to make knives. They just lack creativity and that is why they cloned. But wait to see what will come up NEXT will be hard for American companies to follow. BUt the Chinese will wise up and raise their prices. So it will all even out eventually.

No offense, but again I ask..... the axiom is void?

If you actually believe what you're saying we should all rush out and buy hundreds of these knives and flip them (pardon the pun) to make a fortune when people wise up as to how great the Chinese clones are, and/or the Chinese wise up that Americans will pay more?

Again, sorry I ain't buying (either what you're saying or a sub par Chinese knock off)

The fact that OlamicCutlery chimed in here alone has me considering one of there knives. Very attractive purchase you got there op!

Yep, very cool. Reasons like this are why I stick to even the web site I get my cat's food, every Christmas they send me a fully hand written thank you card for my business. Like I said, sometimes it's the little things that make you a customer for life.

I'll try to get some better pictures in a little bit.

Beautiful knife Rexbo. The holes in the handle probably lighten the knife as well as provide for a better grip. And look good too.
