So every now and then I read a daily load out and in their edc, they will have a fixed blade in their bag...a pm2 in their front pocket and a tenacious in their back pocket...

So just curious what do you for a living or tell us why you need to have three knives on your person....

I almost always carry two blades. Recently, I've taken to carrying one with a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot profile and one with a more standard profile. The reason for this is that straight edges are more useful and effective at some tasks than other blade shapes, and the same goes for the more standard blade shapes. Straight edges tend to be better for utility cutting, in my experience.

Previous pairs from the last couple months:
- Spyderco Gayle Bradley and a Cold Steel Tuff Lite
- Zero Tolerance 0561BW and a Hogue EX-02 3.35" tanto flipper
- Spyderco Pacific Salt and a Kershaw Echelon (de-assisted)

Currently:

Then there's a Spyderco Pacific Salt in my backpack just for whatever reason.

Need has nothing to do with it. I carry what I want. Next you will have me explain why I need a knife at all.

I carry either a PM2, manix 2, griptilian or endura in my front right. I keep a SAK and a leather man style PS in my back pocket and an izula in my bag. The izula is for any situation where I wouldn't trust a folder to perform or if I decide one day I want to bum around the woods but don't want to carry a full hiking kit. The only reason I'd think it be appropriate to carry 2 folders and a fixed blade is if your task involves very fine cutting and heavy duty cutting that one knife simply wouldn't be able to do. Other than that its I can't think of anything else other then maybe a mall ninja.

I carry two knifes alot. In rotation is CS Recon1 and Holdout also Bm ADAMAS. I got big pockets. Never carry a knife with blade under 3.75".

A sak and a pm2 is very normal.... I mean some people are like carrying a pm2, adamas and a bk 9.

So I was wondering if you happen to be a smoke jumper or construction...agro...I grew up in a city so carrying a knife was not normal per se.

I don't know if most people base the knives they carry on their jobs. Many people might, but I think most of us carry 1-3 knives just based on our personal preferences instead of professions.

I usually have a Case back pocket, a Buck 110 in my front pocket, a Bark River city knife in a back pocket and a fixed blade custom om my belt. Sometimes I carry a Case pocket hunter in my watch pocket.

I carry a small Chris Reeve sebenza with casual clothes and a snake wood mnandi with my suit.

I carry a ZT 0550, Leatherman sidekick and a 3.75 fixed blade. I'm in the military and I use different knives for different task, jobs, etc.

I'm an engineer in the machine tool industry. I don't "need" anything, but I carry a large titanium frame lock (CRK, VECP, XM, etc...) along with a traditional slip joint, like a GEC 72, 73, or 47 - usually with a wharncliffe blade. Today, it was a large micarta Sebenza 21 and a GEC white bone 47. Tomorrow (casual Friday), I'm thinking a Shirogorov 111 and a GEC 72 will fit the bill.....

Preference is an acceptable answer too. I'm not judging just curious if it was profession related. But a case, 110 and a fixed is normal as well. A contractor and millitary sound reasonable as well. I work mostly in an office so i get by with a a trapper in my office drawer a peanut on me and a micra in my carrybag.

As an industrial electrician I need very sharp knives on me for HV joint and making stress-cones ,some times for reaming pipe.also because I can.My carries usually are a flipper or AO lfp a 110 or a LB7 in a sheath and a peanut in the coin-pocket....

Busse TGLB, BM 810, and what ever other small fixed blade I decide to carry that day.
Along with a trusty S13 in the truck...

Actually, I tend to carry several knives at any given time on my person, in my backpack, and my man-purse. What's it to you? Why do I do it? Because I can, and because I want to. No further explanation is required. Also, I work in a senior management position at a building with a private office. There will be days where I don't have a single thing I need to cut. Doesn't matter. I'll usually have a variety of blades with me at any given time. Just because.

To be honest, I carry several knives because I like them and have a hard time settling on just one for the day.

When I'm hunting, hiking or riding my horse around the mountains I carry a single fixed blade knife (4-5 inch blade) and a SAK or multitool. Same goes for when I'm working at my family's ranch.

This is what I do as well! I sit in front of my folders for about 10 minutes each morning figuring out a matching pair haha
