i just finished up these arrows about an hour ago... we're leaving on thursday morning, for a weekend long traditional archery shoot... outside of santa barbara ca.. i wanted to make sure i had enough arrows, you never know how many you'll lose or break...:o

i'm really looking forward to this shoot.. it is one of my favorites... the ranch that it is held on is absolutely gorgeaous, especially this time of year... there are wildflowers everywhere...

these arrows are made out of port orford cedar, they're 11/32 spined at 45-50#'s...:D i'm getting ready to shoot them in a bit...

Those arrows are sweet. How long does each take you to make?

Oh and your dog looks grumpy.

thanks guys...:D

snow-- it is a long lengthy/messy process... here it is in simpler terms... i start with the raw shafts, i cut them, stain them, laquer them, crest (paint stripes)them, laquer them again, put the nocks and points on, and then i fletch them... all done...:o

these ones i started yesterday at around noon... which is pretty darn fast...i usually do it over a few days.. but i was kind of in a hurry on these ones, since we're leaving on thursday and i have a ton of other stuff to do... and today is my son's 5th b-day.... we had a big BBQ this past sunday...:D

oh.. i forgot about TIMBER... she hates taking pictures... not too mention the fact that she had just woken up..

Hey Mike!

Is that the shoot Bluenote was tellin' me he was going to meet up with y'all at?

If so have somebody shoot a pic of all of y'all together!

Good stuff what an art. If you ever make it down to Southern CA let me know we will hit the trails.

bear.. we will be in los olivos this weekend... it's a few minutes outside of santa barbara.... drop me a line if you want to meet up...

Great stuff mike, those things look like an art in and of themselves. Your pictures are always a pleasure, and always somehow pretty relaxing. Good vibes I guess

Those are some damn fine looking arrows!!!
Hopefully they fly as well as they look, and best of luck at the shoot.
Don't loose any arrows.

P.S. How do you get the stripes so straight? Do you have something that spins the arrows like a lathe?

thanks again folks... these things fly great...:D i shot them for a few hours earlier...

nick-- i have something called an arrow crester... and it's pretty much just like a lathe... you stick the nock of your arrow in and turn the switch and it starts spinning...

nice looking arrows. What grain piont do you put on them and what is the total arrow weight? What draw weight are you shooting?

Those look great! And my dog hates pictures as well, she gets scared instead of grumpy though lol
