I don't want to give away too much of my privacy online. Having said that I am a 44 year old man from the Netherlands. I always had an interest in knives and guns. Ever since I saw the pocketknife of my grandfather and the airguns of other family members as a young child it started I think. I like to collect mostly Randall Made Knives and Loveless style knives but also have a few Busse knives that I like a lot.

Firmware engineer for medical devices. My code could be running in your body or those of loved ones. Scary, isn't it?

-What are your hobbies?
Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, making knives, making rings, making little toy soldiers, spending as much time with my kids as possible.

-Favorite sports team?
FC Groedig (because my nephew back in Austria used to play for them).

-Any other info that may give us a glimpse of who you are?
Now I'm just an overweight middle-aged daddy and engineer who drives a car with the bumpersticker "I Used to be Cool" on it. (My cousin keeps telling me, "no, you weren't.")

As someone with two spinal cord stimulators and at one time a pain pump, thank you for your work.

You poor guy.

I did work on one of those spinal chord stimulators back in 2008-2009, if I recall the dates correctly. Does this type wrap around the dorsal root ganglea? Might be the same one. My dad has one, as well, but from a different company.

I am VERY happy it's helping you. :-) That company just tossed us as soon as they were done with us (including me), so I'm glad that BS was worth something to someone.

Yesir. 4 implants throughout all wrapped around the dorsal root. One just got updated to a paddle lead last summer. Huge improvement.

You made a huge difference. These devices are the only reason I can walk. Truly thankful for you and people that do that work. Sorry to hear they tossed you like trash, that work deserves better!

Awesome!!! I am sooooooooooooooo glad it is helping you out.

Hey Maroco, if I may ask, what happened that made you need these neurostimulators? I remember seeing some awful xrays of patients in clinical studies as well as my dad's spine.

It all started when I got bit by multiple black widows at once. Within an hour I was intubated and stiff as a board. It took them two weeks to administer me the antivenin. By that time had come the venom had done a toll on my nervous system, specifically my spinal cord. I was no longer getting signal through it below my waist when they tested with electrical pulses etc. The antivenin did it's job and I started getting some feeling in my toes again ( I wad paralyzed for 26 months in mayo clinic) unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the last dose of antivenin and developed gullian- barre syndrome. I have it under control for the most part now but my body is constantly fighting itself and it causes incredible pain in my legs and arms to this day. I can walk but damnit it hurts like hell when I do. The doctors are calling it complex regional pain syndrome. They randomly swell and turn red and feel like a fire is coming off them but I'm mobile damnit. I can't complain too much.

That's awful, I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I think I'll be a little more merciful when my wife and kids freak out when they see a spider. I lack that instinct, somehow. I should probably be a little more squeamish, after all.

I'm glad my work helped you out. I'm sorry that it had to.

Was a Machine Gunner, and Marksmanship Instructor in the USMC. Been in Healthcare ever since getting out. 21 years as a Flight Paramedic, until a career ending back injury 3 years ago.

I like knives, guns, hunting, fishing, and bourbon.

Listen to most music, but prefer hard rock/metal.

I like the UofL Cardinals, and the Bills.

Thought it might be fun to get to know each other a bit more. I realize many people don't like to divulge their real names and I respect that, but WHO ARE YOU???

If you can share who you are as far as:

-What do you do for a living?

-What are your hobbies?

-Favorite sports team?

-Any other info that may give us a glimpse of who you are?

I'll go first.

I am a knife maker at Busse Combat as well as the Production Manager. I spend most of my free time with my wife and 4 kids. Well 3 kids, as my daughter is away at college. Pretty much hate that as I don't get to see her as much as I would like. We have a herd of horses that the kids show and we trail ride for fun whenever we have an opportunity. We do a bit of farming, mostly hay to feed said horses. I enjoy hunting when time permits. Mostly whitetail hunting but occasionally I will take the young ones out after squirrel or rabbits. Not much into bird hunting as I hate cleaning birds. Do enjoy fishing on occasion, mostly just at the pond, catch and release type. If I am going to eat fish then it will be in the form of sushi. Don't like cleaning fish much either. We recently opened up a small horse tack shop as well. Figured we are already neck deep in the horse world so why not go a bit further. Just what I needed, another job!!!

As far as sports go, football is my thing. I have been a 49ers fan since back in the days of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. College football is Ohio State and have been following Ball State football for the last few years since that is where my daughter attends college.

And any other free time I have is spent playing with my car. Dodge Challenger Scat Pack with a 392 Hemi. Stupid fast but tons of fun. Still have the H2 Hummer and my day to day get around vehicle is a F350 Lariat. Helps that I don't have much of a commute to work. I generally put on about 25 miles a week on the truck. I have had that truck since 2014 and just hit 40,000 miles last week.

So that's a glimpse into who I am. WHO ARE YOU?

Garth

Hello, my name is Chris. I have been in recovery for about 10 years now. I quit Busse awhile back. Not because I didn't like them, but because my wife left me over my habit. She would ask me to fix the roof, but all I would do is try and nail shingles on and hammer the nails with my knife, then proceed to nail the shingles on with the knife by driving the knife into the roof with my framing hammer. That, and I would sleep with a pile of coats wonder steel. Oh, and I blew lots of money on the knives too. But I'm good now
