Just for Fun

Here is a little better photo.

Thanks guys. It was fun making although it took more time than I originally thought. It's heat treated and tempered with ebony scales and stainless pins. I wish I had smaller pins but used what I had on hand. A sheath would be cool!
Lowes sells piano wire of varying guages that would have worked perfectly.
Check their hardware section near the nuts and bolts in the hobby drawers.

Nice looking piece. What alloy did you use?

Thanks for the heads up, that definitely would have improved the scale ratio.
I used 1070 steel and stainless rivets. Handles are ebony, which is probably the best wood to use on a knife this small since the wood is so dense.

There are a few that would work nicely.
Ebony, Ironwood, a few from the Rosewood family, Catalox, Locust, even Osage Orange would work nicely.

Next time you do any wood handles, save the trim pieces for practicing bolsters. Osage Orange bolsters with Ebony slabs and stainless pin stock would look nice.

Pretty cool, I've forged quite a few miniature knives out of 16d nails but they can't be hardened.
They were also much smaller than this and the handles were just glued on because I don't have a drill bit small enough to be able to drill and pin them.

This is the only one of these things I haven't given as a gift yet, and it's certainly not as good this one you've made especially since yours is a real knife.

I don't know where the sheath for it went, but anyway as you can see it's my poor attempt at a little cold steel bushman.
