Just found out Buffer is still the most dangerous thing in shop (again)

Sheesh man, you're acting like I'm trying to get it added to the constitution. Personly I felt my statement was humble enough and portrayed as a theory as well as I know how. In any case, sorry if I offended.

You didn't offend. I wanted to educate before someone actually tried that idea and got seriously injured. Ignorance can be cured with education, that's one of the reasons I stick around this forum

just think if the lanyard caught and spun the blade like a weedeater. it would lay you open several times in a matter of seconds, which will be the last thing you remember as you slowly bleed to death.

hey, really sorry to hear bout the brutial knife abuse :eek:oh and your cut up foot as well ,GWS. But a little trick I learned from good friend and knifemaker Ken Richardson is to stand a 2x12 or a piece of plywood between you and the buffer or grinder it will keep a flying knife out of your feet and leggs plus while grinding it will help to direct the sparks and dust to the correct area ,be it a water bucket or what have you, OH, and it keeps your shoes clean too! hope this helps someone else as much as it has me.:o

Definitely thinking about some sort of wood 'barrier' down there.....anybody got any pics of their solution?
