Just got 4 CF/ZDP Caly 3.5's, not a single one of them has a straight blade...

I don't know what went on with this batch, but 4 out of 4 of my ZDP Caly 3.5's have a warped blade. A couple are blatantly obvious the second you see them, the other two are still off, but mostly only noticeable with a straight edge up against them.

The two that are bad are really bad. How does Spyderco go about fixing something like this? I assume since it's a sprint that there aren't replacement blades just lying around.

Hey J, did you get these in the mail or at your local shop where you hand pick your blades?

What do you want me to do about it?

Contact Spyderco.

I did ask a valid question in my OP, but instead of answering you decided to make a troll post.

Posting in this forum IS a way of contacting Spyderco, as well as other Spydie fans. Deal with it.

I could be wrong but I believe the Caly 3.5 with carbon fiber and ZDP189 is now a catalogued item. You might be getting it confused with the sprint run Caly 3 in Damascus limited to 1000 piecies. Check out the mid-year catalogue supplement: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/2012...alog-Final.pdf

I apologize.
I thought it was in poor taste to post derrogotory things about a company when you haven't given the company a chance to fix the problem.
Someone so well established in the YouTube and BladeForums community should show more respect.

I didn't know that, that is really good news! I thought I read somewhere that it was a sprint, but I don't know much about the Caly series. Maybe they do have replacements then!

Can you point me to where I said something derogatory about Spyderco? I literally said nothing even close to being derogatory.

I merely spoke about a problem I had. If we can't even speak about problems with a knife without being considered "disrespectful" then this isn't the place for me. That is taking fanboyism to a new level right there.

You're kidding right?

Derogatory: Showing a critical or disrespectful attitude.

If I'm off-base, I'm sorry.

If you seriously wanted to solve your problems, you could have done other things than what you've done here.
1. Contact Spyderco
2. Post pictures

You wanted attention.

Also, I'm not a fanboy, I'm just anti-drama. :P

I would say you are off base. Just look at the thread about the brand new Ti military with chewed up clip. They called spyderco and they wanted to charge them for a new clip. They post here in the forums and sal himself gets them a new clip for free.

Lol my God, drama llamas are running rampant on this forum!

Any of you guys with the new Caly 3.5 ZDP, I'd like to know if your blades are bent as well. With 100% of mine being off, I'd venture to say that this is a pretty wide spread phenomena. Of course there's no way to know without a thread discussing the issue. Feel free to join in with your sample if you have one.

Checking your post history it appears you have a personal problem with me that you're airing out in this thread. You say you're anti drama? Please. You came in here to make a troll post just because you don't like me. That's about as petty and drama filled as it gets.

You make me LOL.

davis,

dont get the wrong impression here because i could honestly take ya or leave ya but the guy (nullity) does have a point.

he's basically saying "hey, why can't you privately contact spyderco regarding your issue before going public and potentially starting another drawn out company drama fest thread". haha.

however, in your defense i can understand just wanting to know if it is a common occurrence with this zdp caly.

my question is...

usually you inspect before you buy...

you just had to have four of these, why didn't you even just glance at one??? seems odd.

either way you know that spyderco CS will take care of you.

wow you get bent blades from the factory and the fanboys say you are disrespectful and should be happy to get a bent blade, they only wish they could afford to have a crooked Caly.

Makes sense to me.. :p

Same thing (attacks and anger) happens on the Kershaw forum if you don't contact them to fix before posting about, CRK's forum also. I remember one thread where someone sent it in, got it back with another problem, and only then posted about it. Nevertheless, he had anger directed at him for not waiting until he contacted the company a second time before posting

Myself, I appreciate you posting it because I want one and wouldn't want to deal with Spyderco's CS if I don't have to. It will be interesting to see if others notice the same thing. I'll wait a few batches just in case.

Just wondering, why'd you buy four of them?
