Hello Fausto
Mass production can never replace the beauty of the craftsman's work. It is all about cost, and in many ways that is not a bad thing. We have reached a point now at least where some factory made goods are high quality, and not just a poor substitute.
Sometimes there is certainly a problem with design. At least with ship design it has to be practical if it is going to be built. I suppose the problem that knife manufacturers at the the top end have is that they need to have new patterns to keep the collectors going. Afterall, if many people didnt just buy their products because they liked the look of them, the companies would go bust, ( a well made knife lasts a long time ).
Your country has a fine tradition of craftsmanship. And of course, our countries have a lot in common with their love and manufacture of fine shotguns and sports cars. In food though , you leave us way behind
I had a Viper made lock knife a while back, and I have to say it was very well made. One of the best quality lock knives I have handled, and very good value for money. I dont suppose you know of anyone making traditional pattern knives in the traditional way where you are?
