Just got a Strider SnG green lego - need some help

stop trolling.

Last time anyone said a word about the phonies at strider knives, you had a lengthy mental breakdown and "left" the forum.

I have seen rather uniquely bad lock designs on the striders, which isn't to say other companies haven't had similar problems with poor lock geometry. never seen rough surfaces or blade tangs ground with a sharp curve and lockup only on the inside edge of a lockbar on any other brand. (hopefully they advanced beyond
the ski jump tangs by now.) It was a strider owner who mentioned the rough finish.
if customers bend over backwards to make excuses for flaws, the knives will never improve.

No rat I never had a "meltdown" I just told you and your buddies like I see it and you all merely projected a meltdown onto me. I said nothing to all of you that wasn't in a like manner you all was addressing me. I never took up for anybody at Strider, I only said the one example I own is not anything like you and others said Striders are. It's very funny being accused of trolling by someone that looks for reasons to do so regularly. Besides rat I thought you had me on ignore? That is something you've stated over and over ever since I've been here nearly. Can't make up your mind?

No we aren't going nowhere, I call a knife like I find it and I own thousands of dollars worth of frame locks, the one Strider I own locks up as well or better than most of them. There's nothing rough about the finish of the locking surfaces, it's not heavy at all for it's size, it came shaving sharp, it's rock solid no blade play any direction, the fit and finish of the entire knife is well done, the blade is dead centered. I tried it out after hearing a lot of different opinions over the years, figured worse case I could sell it and it's not going anywhere. That's what I found and I'll state it no matter who likes it.

My lock is baby ass smooth... This is left handed...

I bought a sng had the same issues. Plus the blade wasn't centered, and had a bunch of factory grease oozing out of the pivot!!! I traded it here on the forums cause im not one to return something. Told the new owner about my findings, and he wanted it anyways. When he received the knife he told me I must have gotten a bad apple cause it was rough. I think he sent it in. I have since crossed Striders off of my list. They shouldnt leave the factory like that is my opinion regardless of their price....

Hi my name is Rick from the uk . I don't know this compony . But i do know what makes a good knife and havin a good stiff lock out of the box is a good thing as i will give you a longer time befor the lock wheres down to the point it will.nt hold any more . But i do think that a lot of the good named componys out there are uping the price because of there name and lowering the the qwolity of there products to make the most of the profites

Instead of prying the lockbar over, try pulling back o the blade so the lockbar will loosen slightly, enabling it to be disengaged much easier
Merry early Christmas!

Don't be in such a rush with the knife . Just remmder a knife is for life not just for christmas lol

I just ordered a sng in mint condition, new lock up, great price, ups 2 day air. Can't wait. :D

I do have you on ignore, but I can click to view individual posts, which I sometimes do when you follow me posting responses.

I didn't say you had a meltdown.

As far as high-end production knives goes, there'll always be flame-wars. But with other companies, there's seldom about quality but rather a question of "is it worth the $$". The post I read on the internet (yes, I live in a city where there are no knife stores and I get my information from the net) and with Strider the general impression I get is "it's built like a tank" but an inconsistent tank at best. The product is either perfect or have to be sent back but "backed up by a GREAT warranty"! It seems that Strider adopted the policy of "just send it out and hopefully it doesn't come back". This is especially discouraging for buyers overseas where shipping an item in and out may involve high shipping charges, custom and taxes.

My sng that I got last year had the blade lockup loosen with side to side blade play shortly after I began to use it. I adjusted the pivot screw slightly without loctite. The blade has remained solid and centered since then with moderately heavy use. The lock bar /blade interface smoothed out shortly after I got the knife and works fine now. Currently an excellent knife with quality fit and finish.

Flame wars start up around Strider exclusively. People who flame CRK or Hinderer threads are in a very small minority on BFC.

My apologies to all. I certainly didn't mean to start anything. I just wanted some insight by others that have used a Strider before.

On the positive side, I took the knife with me to work today and had to use it a couple times and it worked great. I'm sitting here flicking it now and it's most definitely getting broke in.

I should add - I've noticed from all the opening and closing that I tend to push more "down" on the lock bar instead of "out" and that's simply on me. I can't blame Strider for that problem.

Rat Finkenstein and Jill Jackson....
Either get a room or take it to W&C. It is not appreciated here.

Once it's broken in, you're going to love the thing. My Striders are my babies. SnG in the back pocket in Zwear and a Carbonf Fiber SMF in the front.

 Thanks! I'm liking it more and more as I go.
