Good advice on the one handed closing technique.Thanks.
What does the" stick figure" like emblem on the other side of the blade to the spyder emblem, denote.

That's Sal's makers mark. You'll notice it on knifes he's designed. I believe is son has one as well. It's an interesting design, as you can pick out a S, A, and L out of it.

Well got mine yesterday and I can't say enough good about this knife. It's dead centered, strong lock up and sharp as hell. I was concerned about getting the knife because I'm a southpaw and have had a hard time with a few of the knives I have that I can't switch the clip on.

I can say without a doubt that this knife opens smooth and easy and no lefty would be disappointed with their ability to use it. As strong as it is, it's incredibly light weight. Great grip on the handles. This is by far my favorite knife. Thanks Sal for a great design!!

Now, all we need is another color of G10...........

...However, how did you guys ever get used to that compression lock on the Paramilitary?

Easy, I just push the tab over with my thumb...

Of course, I'm left handed :D

It is more difficult for me to close a compression lock with my right hand. The way Spyderco implements it, I consider it a left-handed lock. A lot of righties really like it, though

How does a lefty release the compression lock? I would suspect using the thumb.

I find the Military/Para's fine for lefty carry. I'm ambi, so I sometimes carry two knives, one in the edge of each pocket. Both the Military and the Para fit fine in the left pocket, with the added bonus of having a tip down, blade against seam security. It's also very easy to open with either hand.

We all know the Spyderdrop, now how about what we're discussing here being called the Compression drop even though you can close and open with it:thumbup::thumbdn:?

I am pretty sure the spyder drop refers tip downs because you have to turn the knife upside down once you pull it out of your pocket in order to open them, and the easy way is to do that is with a controlled drop. As for compression drop, in order to close the para or millie you really don't need to use a drop, maybe a flick tough.

:D I may have completely misunderstood your post tough.

The Spydie Drop, is a move where you take a tip down knife, and draw it upside down, gripping by the hole. Then you "shake" or "drop" the knife open.

The Compression Drop, is really more of a flick. Kinda like what you can do with a BBL.

I have one and it's been my favorite EDC since getting it. I'd love to see one with blaze orange g-10 and ZDP-189!

Compression flick perhaps. Yes, I know about the clip down to do the drop and that is why I now prefer my Spydercos clip down when designed so.
