Just got my two first Sanrenmu folders, the F3-710 and the 6261. The F3-710 is a camo-black blade version of the 710 (Sebenza inspired), and the 6261 is a wood (cocobola) handled Axis lock folder with a mirror finished blade (you picture Google it!).

What a quality! No play, pretty sharp and a rock solid feel to it. The blade steel is the same (8Cr14MoV) as my Benchmade Vex wich is my abuse and workhorse knife. The Axis lock is a bit stiffer than on my BM 707 Sequel or my BM 710 but I can open and close it with just a flick of my wrist. Maybe it will loosen up after use. I always wanted an Axis lock with wooden handles but the BM Shoki is to expensive.

The F3-710 comes with camo handles and a black blade. And it feels real solid! No play. I can´t afford a Sebenza but this will be my substitute. It doesn´t have the same nice material but it will open my boxes and cut strings, rope and clamshells just as good as the real thing.

I paid $29 for BOTH of the knives (included shipping). Why should I ever buy a folder for $100+ anymore?

I have an 710 its awesome...if you shop around you can find them for about $9 shipped.

^ You shouldn't.. If you want to support cheap crap from China/cheap labor/thieves, keep buying $7 knives.. I'm sure you are happy and that is all that matters. Personally, they look like scrap metal filed to a point :)

I bet you also consider Jack in the BOX as fine dining.. take your girl there for a "big night" :D sorry had to.. point is, some prefer finer things and others settle for cheap imitations..

as FlaMtnBkr said.... Different strokes, for different folks.

This is all just another opinion.

So I take it you don't own any Spydercos as they use Sanrenmu for some of their knives?

Don't mistake honest sub-contracting with blunt design thievery.

Which designs did they bluntly thieve? Are you saying no other companies have done this? If this is in regards to the 710, I would submit that the Bradley Alias is a WHOLE lot closer to a Sebbie than the 710.

I bought some sanrenmu knives to see how they compare. So many people giving them solid reviews peaked my interest. I have to say that they are a quality substitute. I would feel confident that if I needed one of them in a pinch, it would come through for me. If someone asked me for a cheap dependable knife I'd have no qualms with suggesting one if it came to the bottom dollar.

I have them stashed around in places where I've used a knife and decided to leave it there for the next time I might need a knife as a tool. I mostly disperse them as gifts to work friends and young kids in my family. Their parents are to busy with their spread sheets and office appointments to teach their children something as basic as a cutting tool.

That being said, I do prefer to carry and use knives with some more character made from better materials.

Unlicensed use of an AXIS lock for one. And what does Sebbie and Alias have in common other then materials used?

Do you have proof that the Axis lock is Unlicensed? Ever consider that SRM could be making some of the Chinese BM's?

I would say that the Alias looks more like a sebenza than the 710.

My original point was , if you are so anti SRM, why would you support a company that supports SRM?

Yes I do. Benchmade made a statement on their forum that SRM's use of AXIS is unlicensed and all BM AXIS lock knives are made in USA and have always been made here. That's enough proof for me.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of it.

So you're saying that Spyderco supports evil communist design thieves?

I don't believe SRM has anyone's legal permission for any of their designs.
Made in China. Meaning it's not worth a company's while to spend thousands of dollars trying to legally dispute the matter.
The fact they're made and shipped from another country there's not much anyone can do.

This is from the limited knowledge I have on the matter and I'm sure others will chime in.

Nonetheless the knives do seem to be of quality given their prices.
I don't personally support SRM, but others are of course free to do so.

There is no question those knives offer tremendous value much as RoughRiders BUT they
are being subsidized by slave labor.

BTW - I own two Rough Riders.

I just see some hypocrisy in the fact that people bash SRM but have no problem with Spyderco using them.

I don't own any spydercos, as I avoid CHINA. I do however own a crap load of Benchmades which are made here in Oregon, USA. I know some Benchmades were made in CHINA and avoid those models and actually don't collect Benchmades anymore. I focus on small makers from USA to support a REAL person to help OUR economy out.

VOTE WITH YOUR CASH.. don't be fooled.. Buying Chinese crap only perpetuates the loss of jobs on our turf. But do what you need to I suppose, I just feel the overall fit and finish of a true quality American made knife is just a better deal for all of us who CARE.. splat.
