Just got my first ZT in the mail. 0566, is this rattle normal?

Fair enough. From my experience of using the 0562, this thing is awesome. I have a few size comparisons from my current EDC lineup.

It's heavier than all of the above, as well. I got the Elmax version with the G10 handle scale, so the carbon fiber one will be slightly lighter, but not by much. The carbon fiber version also comes with M390 steel. The Elmax holds an edge better than my Para 2, and about the same or a little worse than my D2 composite Leek. The Elmax is also pretty good to sharpen on the Spyderco Sharpmaker. It takes a very nice edge, and doesn't take very long going from the carbide rods to the fine ceramic, and ending on the ultra fine ceramic. I really like ZT's Elmax. The titanium frame has a stainless steel insert in the lockbar so there's no typical titanium frame lock stick.

This may be personal opinion, but this thing makes an AWESOME sound when you flick it open and closed. I only put this thing down to type on the computer.

I've had more than one 0566. One of them rattled. It was a blackwash model.

All I did was take the G10 scale off and add some white lithium grease. Presto! Problem solved.

It's not that big of a deal.

I read somewhere that the blackwash ones have a different cavity and torsion bar.....Have no idea why.

It's true. The earlier models came with a smaller torsion bar. Many felt that the smaller spring, coupled with the actual detent ball and hole, made the knife incredibly hard to deploy.

ZT listened to their customers (as usual) and later runs of the standard 0566 have a larger cavity to accommodate a larger torsion bar. This larger torsion bar can be found on the blackwash models, the carbon fiber models, the flat dark earth model, etc.

People have reported that these newer knives are much easier to deploy.

Wow that's cool to hear. I handled an 0566 a while back but passed because I felt it was too hard to open. Maybe I'll give one a shot.

I've had two 0566s and the first one practically broke your thumb every time you tried to open it. It was terrible. After some mods to it, it was slightly better, but still pretty bad. The second one I bought was amazing, though. I deassisted it and polished the washers and it flipped almost like it was on bearings. No joke. I'd rate it a 7/10 in comparison to my 0562CF.

Thanks for those pictures John!
