Just got my new ESEE HEST

Good eye man! Those are from a used Supertuck I had a while back. They came with the holster, but I bought a set of the newer metal ones when I had it, and set the C-clips aside. Now I have a good use for them. Obviously it works equally well with it IWB. I just did it like that for the picture. I think you can find them easily enough online at a few different places. There are alot of different clips for Pistol holsters out there, so it would actually be kinda fun trying some of the others as well.

Take care,
Tony.

thanks, i hadn't even though about using holster clips until just now when i saw your post. i have a couple comptacs laying around, i may go have to play around a little bit. did you use the c-clip screws from the holster or the ones that came with your sheath?

The screws from the Sheath. The Comptac clips might look a little more size appropriate for the sheath. My C-clips look a little overwhelming for It LOL! But it works!!

-JBarberesi- You'll have to post some pics when you get them other clips on!

i'm kicking myself in the ass. i just realized i've already packed all that stuff up because we are getting ready to move in a couple of weeks. i'm half tempted to just order some more from the comptac website.

Ah! to bad. Knifekits.com has some different clips too. Cool website also.

that is a pretty sweet website with some good options. after looking at my 3mil sheat i think the molding that retains the base of the handle would get in the way of mounting clips to that sheath. do you know if your hest kydex sheath works with a 3?

To loose. Doesn't snap in.

even if you move the sheath screws up to the top two holes? not asking you to do it, just give me a good sense of whether the actual molding of the kydex doesn't work with the shape of the 3 blade or if the thickness of the hest blade is just too wide compared to the 3. thanks man.

Yep. I had the screws up at the top already, and tightened them up all the way. Still pretty loose...The HEST is a thick Beast!

The HEST sheath will accomodate the length of the blade, but it wiggles around due to different shape and there is not enough length in the sheath to go over the top of the handle to create a retention spot. If you got a heatgun, a blue foam mat and some pam spray you could try to re-fit the sheath but then your HEST wouldn't fit in. Also, it would just cover the blade, no handle.

oh well, thanks for checking for me guys. i wish there was a thin profile kydex sheath available for the 3s.

Have thought about checking with someone like Marion Poff here on Bladeforums ? He does custom sheaths. I am going to have him make me one for my Ontario RTAK II and possibly my 3-MIL.

no, i didn't know he made kydex. i've seen a couple of guys who make them for the izulas and a few really generic looking kydex sheaths on ebay and stuff. is there a link to one of his posts with pictures of his work? you can pm/email me if you want so this thread doesn't get too off track.

I use Sentry Tuf-Cloth for all my ESEEs. I mostly carry my Izula and HEST in my pocket. Occasionally I will use the Izula as a neck knife and my HEST stays in my Maxpedition EDC pocket unless I am not using the pack and then I put it in my pocket. But I like the idea of attaching the boot clip from the 3 to the HEST for belt carry. That looks like a great idea. I also plan on getting the blet clip for the Izzy.

Congrats on your new HEST! Those C-clips are pretty damn sweet for a carry option on the HEST sheath!!! I'll have to order up a few and try them out on mine and some of my other ESEE's to see what else they'll work on. I really liked how they dropped the height of the whole knife, that's one thing that's always really bothered me about most belt carry set-ups. Tersfeld, thanks for the C-clip info and pics!

*By the way I also just ordered another HEST for myself and was pretty worried I wasn't gonna find one. They are getting pretty hard to find out there now. For all the guys who really love the HEST like me, check out RYP's web page for all his new blades due out this year.
