Just got my new ESEE HEST

Congrats on your new HEST! Those C-clips are pretty damn sweet for a carry option on the HEST sheath!!! I'll have to order up a few and try them out on mine and some of my other ESEE's to see what else they'll work on. I really liked how they dropped the height of the whole knife, that's one thing that's always really bothered me about most belt carry set-ups. Tersfeld, thanks for the C-clip info and pics!

*By the way I also just ordered another HEST for myself and was pretty worried I wasn't gonna find one. They are getting pretty hard to find out there now. For all the guys who really love the HEST like me, check out RYP's web page for all his new blades due out this year.

Glad it helped you out. I'm pretty new here, but I have learned alot, and I am always more then happy to pass on any info. that is helpfull to others.

At this point I am almost wondering if I should start a new thread on this topic. I had one myself that was pretty similar, but it didn't go very far....I don't know:o

Hey tersfeld, where did you get those c clips? I might look into those. I have also been trying to figure out how to carry this knife as my day to day when going to the office, which involves a tucked in shirt. I have been carrying it since friday horizontally on my belt with paracord, works good when you can hang a shirt over it. I also noticed you were from MN, whereabouts are you at, I am in the Southern Red River valley in ND.

Congrats on your HEST! I just got my HEST as well. It's my first ESEE and I see a Junglas in my future, especially after seeing the hog carnage. I'm new to the forums and trying to learn all I can about different steel, sharpening etc.

I carry my hest, without any clips attached, in my left front cargo pants pocket. On some pants, the pry bar actually sticks out where the knife kind of hangs in the pocket. Its very comfortable for me and easy to access. If working in the yard with it, I use the paracord to attach it to my belt as you are doing. It's an easy knife to carry. For rust, I use Senty Tuff Cloth. I picked it up off the net and it seems to work well enough. Take care.

I'm in Faribault,MN Which is South of Northfield Mn you familiar with Northfield? The C-clips are from an older Crossbreed Supertuck Pistol holster. There are places that sell them online, you just might have to Google KYDEX C-CLIPS or something. Knifekits.com sells a similiar set that are metal.

Glad to see you guys are liking the idea of the clips. There are several different styles out there just need to find what works best for ya!

I think I may order up some Comp-Tac clips myself. Let me know what you come up with.:)

I carry mine horizontally at 10:00 (cross draw style) with the supplied clips, pry bar down... very comfortable, no problems.

I'm a mineral oil guy too but if you use it every day (or so) you probably won't need to do anything to it anyway. And I like the looks I get when I take mine out in restaurants!

You might want to try Gunzilla. We have been using it on our issued firearms. Stuff works great and it's safe to drink . I think it's vegetable based.

+1 For Gunzilla. I have been using it for a couple years now. The wife likes it too! Doesn't smell bad, and actually got some stains out of the carpet, and some marker off the counter, that my 6 year old got on it

I've just been running the edge through some beeswax. It affects the sharpness the 1st time you use it but after that no problem. I also rub it on the etched logos. It's biodegradable and you can eat it. Being wax it won't rub off, and you can carry a small piece of beeswax with you; I have a small beeswax survival candle I carry in my kit. So far, so good.

Well I think I am gonna order up some Tuf-Cloth and figure out whether or not I want to mount the knife on my belt differently. It sits pretty good with the paracord, so I might just stick with it for now. I have about 150' of cord coming for the Izzy, so hopefully I can make a decent lanyard and carry the Izzy as a neck knife. Thanks for all the help guys! If you have any more to post feel free!

here you go. i went with the 1.75" since my acu belt is that width and i mostly carry my 3mil at work. as you can see there is plenty of possible adjustment up or down as you see fit. i may drill a hole towards the top of the clips to get a second screw through each one and avoid pivotting.
