Hello Forum Members. I'm new to the forum and appreciate being a member. I have been collecting knives since I was a kid but stopped about 10 years ago. I got the knife bug bad about a month ago and have started back collecting. I just got in my new Spyderco Tenacious with green G10 that I got a great deal on. I paid $19.10 with free shipping on ebay. It's really a nice knife. I have several Spyderco's from the late 90's and early 2000 and this one is as well made as the older Spyderco's. Nice feel to the knife and it may become my new EDC replacing my mini grip. How do other members feel about this knife?

The Tenacious is a cool knife. I used to have a green one and liked it a lot.

But I gotta ask, do you work for ecop or something?

No, I just lucked up on it on ebay. Did I do something wrong by saying I bought it on Ecop? If I did I will delete or edit my post.

Wheverett59, welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your knife.

Hello wheverett59, nice knife! I think you got a great score. In my opinion, Tenacious is a great value knife, a lot of bang for the buck. I especially like the green one. Hope you enjoy Blade Forums, it's an awesome community.

Thanks guys. I really like it too. I've been on a tear buying knives the past month. I'm sure the wife is not to happy but I've found some good deals on Ebay and Amazon. Here is a picture of what I got over the past month. Top to bottom: Ontario Rat 1, Kershaw RJ II, Kershaw Emerson CQC 6K, Kershaw Chill, and of course the Tenacious.

That's great looking!,,, I need to snag one of those ! You got a great price on it to!!!👍👍👍

Yes Tdhurl1103 it was NIB. I could not believe the price and thought it was a misprint. Added it to my cart and it was the correct price. The ebay seller originally had 67 in stock and sold out quickly. There were 20 something left when I bought mine that evening. I decided to buy another one the next morning and they were all gone. Guess I lucked out on getting one.

Nice man. The tenacious is a good knife. It was my first spyderco actually a little over a year ago. Fell in love with the design of spyderco's in general after that. I can get mine pretty sharp with the sharpmaker too, I'm a noob when it comes to sharpening. I'm going to try to teach myself to use stones some time soon.

So, disclaimer that I'm not really a "spyderco guy", so the answer to my question may be obvious but I was curious about this.

The color difference between the OP's "green" tenacious, and grownstars tenacious is quite large (at least to my eyes, on my monitor). Were there different versions? Does Grownstars have new scales on it? Could it be a clone (it was purchased off the bay, but, to me "not spyderco guy" it looks pretty legit)?

Either way, congrats on the new steel, and for getting "back" into the hobby :).

Thanks oncLogan. The model that I have is C122GPGR which is a limited edition run according to all knife vendors on the internet. I notice the color difference that you are seeing. I am not sure if the G10 had different shades of green for the run. I hope my knife is legit. I checked it and it matches the listed specs for the model. If not it is very well made.

I've heard good things about the Tenacious for years and really wanted one, until i held one recently. It felt flimsy and cheap. My Japanese SS Delica and US Native feel ALOT more solid and well built. I have other Chinese made folders that i love and feel great, so it's not an issue of origin. I was disappointed, i really wanted to like the Tenacious.

No problem, as I said, I really don't know spyderco all that well (I know their more popular main models, but not each varriant/color/limited edition, etc), so I figured I'd ask. I'm very much a "knives are tools" and "bang for your buck" type of knife user (I don't really collect), and as such the Tenacious (and Ontario RAT 1/2 now that I mention it) have been on my radar for a while. I was just wanting to know if this was some clever clone that I had to keep an eye out for if I wanted to pick one up :). Sounds like we may have to wait for a "spyderco expert" to come along and set us straight.

Any again, don't feel like I'm jumping on you at all, I'm just legitimately curious.

How does the handle feel in your hand? One of the things I've heard people talk about the tenacious, is that it is really "square" in hand/pocket. Any thoughts on that?

Gaaaaaawwd, this thread takes me back

I remember the weeks of researching a blacked out tenacious when I was looking into buying my first decent folder. That knife was what really started it all for me. And oh man did I use the CRAP outta that thing for the first year.....
