Just got my Spyderco Tenacious Green G10

The color difference between the OP's "green" tenacious, and grownstars tenacious is quite large (at least to my eyes, on my monitor). Were there different versions?

Mine looks like grownstar's. There were not different versions but there were multiple runs and I would expect them to be fairly close in color. It is hard to get the color to show up properly in photos.

I could not believe the price and thought it was a misprint.

It was a misprint of sorts. ecop made mistakes in multiple of their listings and sold some items for well below their proper prices.

Thanks for the info bdmicarta. I really like the feel of the Tenacious and have always liked Spyderco knives. Here is a picture of some of my older Spyderco knives from the 90's and early 2000's. From left to right: Jess Horn lightweight AUS8, Delica VG10, Native first production run Gin1, and two Wayne Goddard lightweights ATS55. I have another Delica somewhere which I bought when they first came out in '90 or '91.

So, disclaimer that I'm not really a "spyderco guy", so the answer to my question may be obvious but I was curious about this.

The color difference between the OP's "green" tenacious, and grownstars tenacious is quite large (at least to my eyes, on my monitor). Were there different versions? Does Grownstars have new scales on it? Could it be a clone (it was purchased off the bay, but, to me "not spyderco guy" it looks pretty legit)?

Either way, congrats on the new steel, and for getting "back" into the hobby :).

bdmicarta is correct! It's actually pretty hard to photograph the exact color. Here's another pic. Same knife, natural lighting. See how it looks more like the OPs?

I've got an all black tenacious that hasn't seen much pocket time lately (to many knives) but how on earth can you beat that knife for 19.00!

Hey ocnLogan no problem with the questions. I don't have big hands and the Tenacious is just the right size and feel for me. It does see square in the hand/pocket to me. I just got the Rat 1 and it's a great knife but is a little to large for me but I can live with it. I am really wanting a Rat 2 now. I think it will be the perfect size for me.

You're right, it does look much more similar in that lighting :). Something about the pricing seeming a bit "too" good of a deal, my unfamiliarity with the limited edition, and the color differences made me worried for a bit. Thanks for helping clear that up.

There are lots of great value knives out there, and it looks like you've found a few of them already.

I don't own the RAT2, but I did buy two of them for gifts this christmas, and got to handle them a bit (had to check to make sure they weren't defective... right?). The build quality was there, and it seemed like a good knife. The handle was a touch on the small side for me though, mostly because the shape and not the length. What I mean by that is on the RAT 1/2, there are "bumps" on either end of the knife handle where your fingers go, and while the overall length of the handle was fine for me, the scaled down size of the 2 left that area feeling a touch small.

Given, those are just first impressions of the RAT2, but I didn't actually get to use it, so I don't know if that would be enough to bother me. I just thought I'd mention it.

Good luck on your hunt for the next one :).

Something about the pricing seeming a bit "too" good of a deal

The pricing was a clear mistake on the seller's part. You can find other threads about someone that bought quite a few other Spyderco knives from this seller at an incredible price, then turned around and listed them for sale at high prices with a lame excuse that he was trying to get his money back, was losing money on them, etc.

I also heard about another brand of knife that they had listed at an extremely low price. I did some searching for them the next day for knife models that I was interested in and did not find any unusually low prices.
