Just got myself a Benchmade Vex (lots of pics)

Only time will tell, but the stuff is pretty slick. Any kind of food or glue or any stuff like that quickly comes off. Fingerprints, grease...all comes right off.

Just got mine today. Looks excellent, but the overall thickness bothers me. I guess its off to ebay!

The steel used in the byrd line (similar to the steel in the vex) is fine. it takes a very toothy edge when sharpened on the coarse sharpmaker stones. IIRC it is similar to 440C. I found mine (in the byrd) more prone to rust, but the vex steel seems to have a higher chromium content.

this knife is not thick at all, and slices pretty well. Maybe a little thicker than an opinel.

Check out the comparison pics.

I guess this knife would be good for SD. Hell, i think any decent sharp folder would be fine for SD purposes.

I see a lot of VTech 13100 blade similarities. Rounded back, plated, thin.

BM's buying it from someone who does good work.

I dont think the knife is heavy at all. Feels just about right to me.

Benchmade buying something from V-Tech? WTF are you talkin about?

The edge holding of the steel is good, not the greatest, but good....similar to my knives in AUS8. The edge holding is more than acceptable and will do most anything you ask of it within reason.
