just got stitches

No stitches, But I did recently scalp the knuckle of my middle finger with a BK9.

There are lots of these stories caused by cord wrapping. I now secure the blade in a vise or bar clamp before doing any handle wrapping.

I was trying to cut a 1/2" deep notch in the top of a 3/4" stick at a bonfire, 1/10th of a second later my Izula had gone through about 14" of the stick and into my thumb, felt the cut and put pressure on it with my other hand, knew I had to get stitches when the two halves were sliding around on each other. 3 internal stiches and 20 around the outside.

Michael that is a really deep cut! Looking at those pics makes me cringe, Im glad that mine wasn't quite as bad. The worst part is the day before it happened I was watching deadliest catch and one of the guys on there had the captain stitch up his elbow. I was thinking to myself man I hope I never have to get stitches and then I had to get them the next day!

Well, I was about say that superglue has saved me several trips to the ER where stitches would have been required.... then I saw those last pics. Thats impressive my friend!! I'm sure that would have taken ALOT of superglue or maybe some JB weld.

HAHAHAHAHA! Too true. Usually when I'm bleeding I am busy trying to keep the blood off the carpet/floor/clothes. I'll make it a point next time, however, to get some gory pics for you guys!

Nearly chopped the tip of my finger off cutting an apple. I would have gotten stitches were I to have been smart and gone and gotten it treated, not just wrapping it and hoping for the best. Took a little over a month to fully heal and I now have a weird looking scar and a funny story. I also never eat apples any more.

Lol did you really?

sharpening my superfly, i became a little annoyed at the toothy edge and started aggressively slicing through some old newspapers. Got a little close to my right hand middle finger and made a nice diagonal cut from the middle of my finger nail to the tip, wrapped in gauze, passed out. Woke up the next morning drank lots of water and rebandaged it after the scab had solidified (the worst part :( )

Another good story: one of my friends has a CS Spartan, and he was cutting with it. When he closed the knife, his thumb was in the way. Sliced a nice spiral cut about 1/4" deep from the tip to the base of his thumb. If I remember right, he got like 20 stitches from it.

Last month got a tiny cut - it barely bled, got infected, went to doc straight away, followed advice, started thinking somethings not right doc is wrong:thumbdn:, better ring local hospital. I spent 4 days in hospital, had 2 operations, lost a bit of thumb tip and about half the pulp on thumb pad. I just had 5 stitches out when this pic was taken.

It didn't cost me a red cent (thanks to Australia's Public Health Service) and I have since changed Doctors.

Boy, this thread gets some kind of "ick out" award (not me of course; I'm a burly he-man :D). For me it was stripping coax cable, trying to install a new TV for my wife as a surprise B'day present. Well, she was surprised all right when I called her from the hospital. I ended up with a bunch of stitches and an education on how to never cut toward your hand. Those Spydercos are REALLY sharp! I still remember that my 4-year-old daughter was home with me, and I tried to not alarm her as blood was dripping all over the place and I tried to strap her into the car seat for the ride to the hospital. She was actually pretty cool about it, which made things a lot easier than they might have been. For those who are worried, the TV did eventually get installed, but it was a week late. :(

I got an identical injury as the OP. Cord wrapping an Izula and it came rocketing out of the sheath and sliced my thumb right up the center of the pad.

I don't have any nifty pics of my many ill fated knife episodes & mishaps, I always soak 'em in Peroxide then slop them up with Neosporin and use pressure bandages. I hope my luck holds out. No stitches yet although I'm sure the ER would have stitched up a few of them. :o
