Just how bad are ...........

Hmmm...maybe the Japanese manufacturers decided they couldn't in good conscience make knives for Frost anymore??? :)

Anything being pushed on HSN cannot be good. I have a catalog that has numerous makers' products (i.e., SOG, Spyderco, Benchmade, Camillus, Buck, Baretta, Schrade, Case, Victorinox, etc.). And guess what? Frost has the biggest section of all. And Frost's knives are ugly as sin, IMO. Even from the photos one can spot the bad quality. And at the beginning of certain Frost pages it proudly announces: Made in Pakistan! and Made in China!

I suppose Frost Cutlery makes stuff that's used with pride by some people but I cannot for the life of me imagine who.

Owned one way back when they were first introduced to the ,retail market,& when i wasnt to smart about metal quality, and overall craftmenship. Let me tell you they are PURE DOGGY WADDLE !.//

Why don't you guys say how you really feel? This is the best thread I've read in a while. I also agree Frost knives are pure S%^$#R$%%^T!:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

Thank you folks, I saw a LEO commemaritive with a nice poster that came with it.I suppose the poster is madeof better material than the knife.

Guess I'll stay away from them.

BTW, the knowledge and experience on this board is a great help.

LOL I LOVE watching their pitches on HSN :D I get more giggles than an episode of Southpark...

Elwin,
Oh no! They are custom for sure. It's just the custom 'what' that I'm not sure of. ;) In fact, I can pretty much guarantee there are NO other knives made like those bowies they have on that show. But the boxes are rather sturdy.

Actually, theseknvies do have a perfectly good reason to exist: tiddly-winks. Now, I am an Eagle scout and I know it is unsafe practice, but they were talking about Wengers and Victorinox and Case and Buck knives taht shouldn't be thrown in the ground... to me, Frost knives look much better when mud and grime conceal the incredible lack of quality. Let me put it this way, the only way to say anything good about Frost knives is to say that they give better performance per dollar than full-priced SWAT knives.

And as far as them bieng custom, they probably mean that their CQ is so bad that the grind on any two knives isn't within half an inch of each other

SR,
Tiddley winks?

I think what you're talking about is Mumbledy-peg?
At least that's what we call the game down here.
(regional thing?)

I remember that too :D But that's another different thread topic about why clowns should not handle knives :D

I performed with a clown a few times. His name was Lex and he really liked Spydercos. He never "played" with them.....well, at least not in a non-manly way. :p

Frost Cutlery used to have a few Japan made knives, and even though they we a little more expensive (relatively) they were quite a bit better quality. This was a few years ago, though, and I don't know if they are still having some made in Japan. Otherwise, China, and Pakastan can just keep their knives.

Yes, I have seen some of the Japan made spipjoints and
lockbacks that were pretty nice. Even these, some had
quality control issues. The Pakistani slipjoints they
are selling today however are heavy, thick handled, POS.

We hear it time and time again. You get what you pay for. I've watched those guys selling Jim Frost knives on tv. The Black hair guy is dumber than f---. Their knives did look kind of cheap on tv. I've been loking for wholesale knives and I'm glad I did't deal with them.

Truthseeker, why would you resurrect a thread that's over five years old as your first post?

Welcome to Bladeforums! This is an old thread but it's one that should be resurrected occasionally as a warning to newbies who might not already know about Frost Cutlery. We try to keep the language a little more sedate than that, though, difficult as it is whenFrost Cutlery is the subject.
