Just how bad are ...........

Before the flames start, let me say that MOST Frost Cutlery knives are junk. Pure junk. I have some that I have won in lot auctions with better knives, that I wouldn't use to butter my bread. Locks that don't lock at all, or fail with a push of a finger. I couldn't tell you about the steel, cause I'm afraid to cut anything with them.

That said, Frost is not a knife manufacturer. They are an importer. They import knives from different factories in different countries, and put thier brands on them. Steel Warriors are Frost knives, and they get a lot of praise on this and other forums. Hen and Rooster is a Frost brand. They have several others.

Frost is an unethical company. They blatantly rip off other companies, and they sell a LOT of cheap crap that could cause someone serious injury. That said, they do import a few good knives amongst thier large supply of junk ones.

I have a few made in Japan that I got several years ago. I don't rely on them much. They looked good in the catalog but a disappointment when they arrived. I put them away and recently got them out just to see how well the steel in the blades are. Not much to say about them.

Ive bought some for my boys for Christmas one year.A pack of like 10 each. I knew they were crap but my boys were just interested in the cool looking ones. They lost all of them within 6 months which is exactly what i knew would happen and thats why i bought them.

100 Knife sets on QVC, HSN, etc., etc.. That's where those jokers at the weekend swap meets get em'. Come on, you've seen em'. Absolute POS!

I recently read that a convict in a maximum security prison was able to smuggle in a Frost Cutlery knife in a cake. Over a period of months he was able to turn it into a shank using only a fingernail file and some hard plastic for the blade!

Yes, it's BAD.

My Bro-in-law gave a Frost knife to me for Christmas several years ago. It's a "Grizzly Skinner" and on one side of the blade it says "Stainless Japan". The steel sharpens up readily enough and holds an edge reasonably well. I like it enough to keep it in my BOB all the time.

I've heard alot of bad about Frost Cutelry, but this is my only experience with them.

Here's a picture of it:

There are still some made in Japan--Seki city, even. With that said, I still wouldn't recommend them...
