So, I own a ZT0801, BM940 and a Spyderco Sage 1.....Who cares, right? Here is my question.....do I really need to experience the pride of ownership and fine craftsmanship of a Seb21? is it THAT much better than what already serves me well? I know this is a silly question to ask in the CR forum, but just like in the post-armed robbery scene in one of the Dirty Harry movies...I just got's to know.

Yes. My sebenzas are far above and beyond what any benchmade I have owned or handled. If you have the opportunity to play around with a sebenza do so

Bro--short answer: YES.

Long answer: there are literally dozens of threads asking this same question. You will get all responses from "the Sebenza is the knife that Zeus uses" to "it is an ugly grey turd that isn't worth it's weight in scrap" and anything and everything in between.

Bottom line: only YOU can determine what you find value in and how/when/where/why/ you spend your money.

Go for it. The resell price on them is good so you can recoup most, if not all, you paid if you decide to sell.
That was my "logic" when I bought mine. I'm keeping it.

do you notice the difference between a BMW and a Kia? I sure hope you would.

If your sole purpose is to transport your meat from point A to point B..... a kia would do just fine.

I think you get the point.

You will get all the positive answers on here, which is no surprise. And if you go to other subforums you will get the other side. As KeithJohno said buy it try it and if you think it is not for you, sell it you will not loose. Oh and send me an email when you want to sell I would like first shot at what every you have that is made by Chris Reeve Knives. On a serious note, they are great knives give them a chance and I am sure you will love them.

Do you need one? No, your Spyderco, ZT and BM will cut anything a Sebenza will. With that said, ia CRK is made so well that you can feel the quality in the build and it will be unlike any knife you've used before. Don't get me wrong, I carry a Sage 1 and a ZT 301 on a regular basis and I really like them but they simply don't compare to my lefty small Sebenza.

As I said, you don't need one, but if you try one you will understand what they are all about. I'd also suggest that a CRK might not replace your other knives but I'm willing to bet it will become your favorite.

Yes, but a word of warning. You will develop a taste for fine knives that your spyderco, bm and zt won't be able to satisfy any longer.

If I could have one thing back, it would be the money I spent on folding knives before I got into CRK. I would use that money to buy more CRK folding knives. There's something about them. It's a combination of things that makes them great. Aesthtics, quality, design, 'do-able' price point, a good selection of models, but not so vast that you can't own one of each basic flavour. CRK is the way to go. You are not likely to regret it.

By even asking the question, you, yourself are wanting to get one. Probably have even contemplated it by looking at them at a few venues.
I could put it another way and relate the knives to cars, tools etc..but I have a feeling you don't need that much to actually.just.do.it.

You know you want one.

Wait...Does anybody ever get just one?

bunch of enablers in this particular forum you all are :)

As much as I love my sebenza, I would trade my large inlay for 2 spyderco southards in a heartbeat

Buy a 25....the best folder Chris has made to date (IMO).....forget all the foo foo collectable crap...I'm talking down & dirty badass user knife.

I have at least 75 knives in my collection. I now only carry and use two knives... A small CRK Insingo and an Alox Vic Cadet. You won't really understand a CRK until you beat the hell out of it day after day. If you are looking for a safe queen then look someplace else. If you are looking for a lifetime companion that is flawless in execution and easy to service then a CRK is the ticket.

Sorry to sort of derail this thread, but your response may help the OP decide. As I understand it with the 25 came the elimination of the pivot bushing. One of the aspects that interested me in the Sebenza was the fact that tightening all the screws all the way (including the pivot) was the way its designed. How do you set the pivot on the 25? Do you have to find the 'sweet spot'?

On mine, if I tighten the pivot all the way then back it off a hairs width its perfect. Ive taken mine apart a few times and every time its extremely to set the pivot tension.

I plan on a chris reeve seb21 for my next knife, new or as new. I have to see for myself. I firmly believe in the quality difference between a $150 knife and a $50 knife. I love the knives in my small but growing collection. I'm actually selling a gun I don't use much to expand the knife collection.

The difference over other well made knives is perhaps a subtle one but a difference is there. When you start to push the envelope on "well made" there is only so far one can go but CRK do take you there, IMO. :)
